SpiderMan’s Spider Sense explanation doesn’t fully add up. Aunt May threw a banana at him and it didn’t react because she wasn’t a threat. But Tony Stark casually threw something at Peter and he caught it without even looking. Tony wasn’t a threat either… so what exactly triggers Spider Sense?

his spider sense was just generally off in no eay home, had nithing to do with threats

People keep saying it only activates when it detects a threat

i don’t know bout all that but i lnow that the spidersense not working was a major plot pointin far from home, so much so that it only works properly in the final confrontation with mysterio

He barely knows Tony in that scene. That's the first time they meet. Peter, and his sense, has no idea what Tony is there for and he's anxious because Tony knows Peter is that spider kid running around and stopping cars with his bare hands when thats supposed to be a secret

I think Tony was threatening Peter when they first meet. Tony basically said if you don’t come with me I will tell Aunt May you are Spiderman.

It’s not really a threat detector tho. Spider-Sense reacts to danger or something that could physically hurt him. Tony throwing something at Peter was sudden, so his reflexes kicked in. May’s banana was basically just… May throwing a banana

Tony wasn’t a threat… but Tony Stark, an international name, showed up at his home unannounced and was now in his room. All of his senses were heightened because of the unknown. Including his spidey sense.

Aunt may is someone he truly is comfortable around. Any other time he has a sense of awareness because he’s mentally has his guard up around other people. Aunt may he knows 10000% deep down will never harm him so he drops his guard completely

In the scenes you're using you're comparing the woman who has raised Peter with a man that, in the scene in question, Peter is only just meeting for the first time in his life. One he's intimately connected to as the person who raised him, the other is a new stranger.

I dont think that was spider sense when tony threw that. He just has insanely good reflexes, and probably very good peripheral vision that he could catch that so easily while only barely seeing it.

Simple; his spider sense wasn’t what allowed him to catch the webbing, that is just his base super reflexes. Spidey Sense is an additional sense that stacks on top of his others to alert him to impending danger, and spurs him to action.

Yall its called Spider Sense not threat detector. Literally half the plot of the movie was him being off and his powers not fully working correctly. He can Sense way more than just "danger"

He might have not been a direct threat but he was still unknown to him at that time. On top of that Tony was slowly catching onto his identity and that probably put him in a sense of danger

The spider sense doesn't necessarily pick up on threats in the physical sense. It picks up on malicious intent. It's the difference between Aunt May throwing a banana at him, and Thanos throwing a banana at him.

He was actively communicating with Tony and peripherally aware of him so was able to anticipate and catch the cartridge; May, otoh, came from around the corner while Peter was essentially unaware and her not registering as a threat.

It’s cuz he fully trusts her most adaptions show aunt may and other certain characters he trusts and knows wouldn’t be harmful to him won’t trigger his spidersense sense he himself dosnt feel any intent of harm… it’s more like fairy law from fairytail

I think it’s more he’s paying attention to Tony so sees it and reacts. Aunt may throws it while he’s not paying attention

Because Tony is a threat. He created Ultron and He is Doctor Doom. Wanted quote: "A suit of armor around the world, even if it encroached on people's precious freedom's or not. That's what we needed!" People who trade freedom for security deserve neither.

Likely a stress thing; he’s meeting the richest man alive who is also basically the biggest superhero at the time and getting questioned about his secret identity. Human senses heighten in stressful environments spideysense would be no different

He had literally just met Tony in that scene legit not even 5 minutes.

Tony was a stranger, and Peter didn't really know him yet, so Idk why it shouldn't be assumed that his spidersense is at least on alert just in case

The tony angle could have been straight up reflexes. He was very wired and switched on when he met Tony. He was fully defensive even if he was pretending otherwise. May just turned up and threw a banana at him with zero hostile intent.
