🚀 It landed in the Indian Ocean. With one engine out. Let that sit for a second. The most powerful rocket ever built lost an engine mid flight and still completed a controlled splashdown exactly where it was supposed to. 7 months since the last flight. First attempt scrubbed with 40 seconds on the clock. Second attempt flew 65 minutes across the planet and put mock satellites in orbit. The people on the recovery boat heard the sonic booms before they saw it. Then watched a 400 foot rocket breach the sky and come down like it planned to all along.

Thanks to the most powerful rocket engines ever.

Was it supposed to explode like that? The girl talking on the SpaceX video feed said it was supposed to do that when it happened, but didn't get into it further. All the people cheering seemed to be happy, like they knew it would do that. I don't quite understand what happened. Anybody know?

Seems like a few steps forward for ship (much better payload deployment, much better heat tiles) and one step back for booster (engines failing to relight). I have no doubt you'll get the bugs out, SpaceX. Keep up the amazing work!
