But he's not making online PVP games, it's a lot different when it's a story game, isn't it? I feel like microtransactions can be a good thing for indies that need continued support from their fan base, similar to a patreon subscription. Sometimes I'll buy something just to support the devs!

Bold stance for him to take. Most games are dying at the opportunity to add micro transactions in at every possible opportunity.
