People seriously need to stop saying this was the worst thing ever. Super Bowl shows are planned MONTHS in advance and, according to the people who worked on this, it was an extremely last minute addition.

Had full grown adults ready to riot.

I think a lot of people forget why it was so disrespectful. It wasn’t just that they didn’t play the actual song, but that the reason fans asked for it was as a tribute to Stephen Hillenburg, who passed away a few months prior. Instead, Viacom and NFL just teased it for marketing
