It’s Scottish too. We did guising with neepie lantrens in the 60s and folk did long before that.

Gonna plant some turnips next spring so I can dig up the overgrown monstrosities in October for carving. A heck of a lot easier than growing pumpkins.

Carving turnips is impossible. You need tools for that job.

I can still remember the pure slog of trying to scoop it out to make the lantern - but also the fit stew made from the pieces.
