When an abandoned Pit Bull turned its face to the wall every time a family stopped at its kennel, and I learned why, it broke something quiet in me. By the twelfth family, people at Briar County Animal Rescue had stopped calling it a coincidence. They called him rude. Or damaged. Or one of those dogs who โ€œjust doesnโ€™t want people.โ€ He was a stocky brown-and-white Pit Bull, maybe four years old, with a broad head, one torn ear, and the kind of stillness that made strangers uneasy because it looked too deliberate to be fear. His shelter card said Male. Neutered. Good health. Found abandoned near county road. His intake photo showed him staring directly into the camera, eyes amber and alert, ribs just faintly visible beneath short fur. But by the time families came to meet him, that dog from the photo had vanished. The kennel door would rattle. A child would point. A mother would bend down and say in the bright, hopeful voice people use when they want love to happen on schedule, โ€œLook at this sweet boy.โ€ And the Pit Bull would turn around. Not slowly. Not shyly. Decisively. He would walk to the back wall, sit with his shoulders squared, and face the cinder block as if the people standing ten feet behind him had already become a memory he preferred not to keep. The reaction was always the same. At first, confusion. Then awkward laughter. Then disappointment, which in shelters hardens quickly into judgment because there is always another kennel, another dog, another chance to be chosen without being made uncomfortable first. One man muttered that the dog was mean. A teenage boy said it looked ungrateful. A woman in a camel coat whispered to the volunteer beside her, โ€œWhy would anyone adopt a dog that wonโ€™t even look at you?โ€ The volunteer had no answer. Neither did Kayla Moreno, the shelterโ€™s adoption coordinator, though she tried. Kayla was thirty-one, compact, sharp-eyed, and the sort of woman who kept spare leashes looped over one arm and dog treats in every jacket pocket she owned. She had seen fear biters, shut-down seniors, clingy owner surrenders, and wild strays who mistook affection for a trap. But this was different. This dog did not panic. He did not bark. He did not tremble or lunge or cower. He simply refused to participate in hope. That made people angrier than open aggression ever could. By the end of the week, the Pit Bull had become a small ugly legend inside the shelter. Staff called him Winston because every dog needed a name, but visitors started referring to him as โ€œthe one who turns away.โ€ Children lost interest in under a minute. Adults shrugged and moved on. A rescue partner declined to pull him because dogs with โ€œpoor kennel presentationโ€ did badly in foster pipelines. One older volunteer, tired and not unkind, said what several others had already begun to suspect. โ€œMaybe he just doesnโ€™t deserve a home if he keeps doing this.โ€ Kayla hated the sentence the moment it landed, but what unsettled her more was that part of her was starting to resent him too. Twelve families. Twelve chances. Twelve times he had chosen a wall over a hand reaching for him. Then one night, after the shelter closed and the last mop bucket had been rolled away, Kayla pulled up the security footage on a hunch she could not explain. And what she saw after midnight changed the whole story.

A friend of mine just recently got his first gun, a striker fired Glock 19. He is terrified to leave a round chambered. To anyone reading this who has this same fear, I want to alleviate your concerns. I'm going to explain why there is nothing to be afraid of. First and foremost, I fully understand your concern. It's not irrational. And you're not stupid for being nervous about a bullet being aimed at your leg with the striker cocked back under spring tension about an 1/8 of an inch from the primer. I get it. I shared this concern when I was new to carrying. But your fear is due to a lack of understanding of the internal safety features of a modern striker fired handgun. On a properly maintained modern striker fired pistol the striker CANNOT hit the primer on the chambered round without the trigger being pulled. Can't. Not shouldn't. Can't. (If you have any good Sig P320 jokes, this is the proper place to share them) There is a block that the striker will hit and stop if it is released without the trigger being depressed. It works just like a lock and key. There is a channel in the blocker that the striker can pass through if it is in the fire position. It only goes into the fire position if the trigger is pulled which pushes the blocker into the fire position. A spring keeps the blocker firmly in the block position until then. The blocker is a solid piece of steel that won't break. And if your gun is securely in a hard sided Kydex holster nothing can move the trigger unless it is unholstered. Many guns like Glocks have a trigger safety that prevents the trigger from moving due to force of dropping. Your finger has to be on the trigger safety to move it. So the gun cannot fire unless you pull the trigger. And it's easy for you to test this safety feature to see how it works! See the video below. You can try to push the striker forward by moving that piece at the back of the slide forward. That piece is the back of the striker. Push it forward and it will stop. The tip won't come out through the breach. You see it trying to come through but it gets stuck. Now push that little button in. That is the actual blocker. When you push it in you will now be able to move the striker forward through the breach and see how it will strike the primer. You can test this easily every time you disassemble your pistol to verify it is still working. You can break this safety feature by removing the blocker or losing the spring. But if it's there it will work. (You would be the first person in firearms history who has ever lost a spring. Literally the first one. It has never happened before. ๐Ÿ˜) But it doesn't come out as part of regular maintenance. You have to disassemble the firing assembly to get it out. That won't happen by accident. And if you do that on purpose you should do this blocker test when you reassemble it to make sure the safety feature is working. My video shows a Glock slide. All Glocks will look like this. Other brands may put the blocker in a different spot or it may be a slightly different shape. But they all (mostly) have the same design. If you test yours as demonstrated and it works like mine does, your gun WILL NOT fire without pulling the trigger. (If you just thought of another P320 joke, this is another good place to toss that out there)

The volunteer warned her three times before she even reached his kennel: "Don't get your hopes up with this one. He's been returned four times. Something's justโ€ฆ off about him. People bring him back within a week." But Karen had only come to walk dogs that Saturday โ€” she wasn't adopting anything โ€” so she figured a brindle mutt nobody wanted was as good a dog as any to take around the block, and she had no idea she was about to lose an argument with an animal who had already made up his mind. His name on the kennel card was Buster, crossed out and rewritten three times in three different handwritings. Four returns in two years. The notes were a quiet little tragedy: Too anxious. Won't settle. Cries when left alone. Not a good fit. Each family had brought him back a little more shut down than the last. He was the kind of dog shelters lose sleep over โ€” not aggressive, not sick, just somehow always the one handed back. By the time Karen clipped the leash on, he wouldn't even look at her. He walked beside her like a dog who had learned that walks end in goodbyes. But something happened on that loop around the block. He started glancing up at her. By the halfway point he was leaning into her leg at every stop. And when she brought him back to the shelter and bent to unclip the leash, Buster did something he had never done in two years of returns. He sat down on her feet. And he would not move. The volunteer tried to coax him back into the kennel. He pressed harder against Karen's legs. When she crouched to say goodbye, he climbed half into her lap and pushed his head under her chin and let out a low whine that sounded, to everyone standing there, exactly like please. "He's never done that," the volunteer said quietly. "Not once." Karen had walked in that morning wanting nothing but a few hours of fresh air and a dog on a leash. She knelt on that concrete floor with a dog who had been given back four times refusing to let go of her, and she felt something in her chest simply give way. "Okay," she whispered into his fur, half-laughing, half-crying. "Okay. You win. I'm not going anywhere either." She filled out the paperwork that afternoon. Buster never spent another night in a kennel. And the dog who "wouldn't settle" for four families slept soundly the very first night โ€” because, his whole body seemed to say, he'd finally found the one who wasn't going to bring him back.

This is the account given by the woman featured in the video: A neighbor's Pit Bull kept escaping just to come sit on my porch. When I finally figured out why, I laughed before doing anything else. Not exactly the reaction my son - or even I - was expecting. For months, no one could make sense of it. He belonged to the family across the street. Young couple, two boys, the kind of household that refreshed their yard every spring and treated painting trim like a weekend project. And still... their dog kept leaving. Not to chase anything. Not to get into trouble. Not even to explore. He would cross the street, climb up my steps, and sit right at my front door like he had somewhere to be. The tirst time, I assumed he was lost. The second time, I figured their gate wasn't secure. By the third time, even his owners looked a little embarrassed โ€” like this wasn't misbehavior anymore, it was determination. "I'm so sorry," the wife said one day, standing in my yard with an empty leash, slightly out of breath. "He got out again... and came straight here." I looked at him. Big head. White chest. Soft amber eyes beneath a face that would usually make people hesitate. There he was, sitting calmly on my porch in the quiet mountain sun, as steady as if he belonged there. When I opened the door, he didn't run. Didn't bark. He just leaned his warm body against my leg and let out a long, contented sigh. That was six years after my husband passed. Six years of living alone in Flagstaff. Six years of one cup, one plate, one empty side of the bed. People kept telling me I should get a dog, like love was something you could just pick back up when you felt ready. But I had already lost one great love. I wasn't looking for another bond that would one day leave me counting the silence again. So when that dog kept choosing my porch instead of his own home... I didn't feel chosen. I telt trapped. I just didn't know by what. It took time to understand. It wasn't pressure. It wasn't loss waiting to happen. It was something gentler. He wasn't replacing anything. He wasn't asking for anything I couldn't give. He just showed up. Again and again. Until the quiet didn't feel so heavy anymore. Eventually, his family and I stopped apologizing back and forth and started laughing about it instead. We worked out a rhythm โ€” he'd visit, I'd keep the door open, and somehow, it all just fit. Now, he still comes by. Not because he's escaping. But because he has two homes. And for the first time in years, mine doesn't feel empty anymore.

For the past three to four years now, I usually go on holiday twice a year โ€” one international solo trip and one local family vacation. I do go for my solo vacation in spring and our family holiday is during the summer when the kids are on school break. Schools have finally shutdown for summer break last week and the kids are already all pumped up for our family vacation which will be coming up in few weeks from now. We haven't yet gone for our family summer vacation for this year but babe has already started making plans for our 2027 summer holiday. Last weekend, she brought up the idea of just the two of us going on a boat cruise next summer. She wants it to be just me and her without the kids. She suggested that we bring in a family member on invitation from Naija, such that there will be a family at home with the kids while we both go on a lovey-dovey boat cruise to western Europe. She advised that we should start saving up for the adventure by September. This woman and long term planning are five and six, and that virtue has been very helpful in helping us avoid financial pressure. We do everything with ease, thanks to her wisdom. For instance, two weeks before the end of the session that ended last week, we have already bought the kids school uniforms for 2026/27 academic session that will be starting in September; thanks to my wife's wisdom. If she hasn't suggested it, it wouldn't have even crossed my mind at all. I am awake now, staring at this beautiful woman sleeping peacefully next to me and I feel nothing but joy in my heart and total love for her. I am really blessed to have someone like her as my better half. I am the often chaotic and the more expressive person while she is the calm, quiet and better organised one. We perfectly compliment each other. It'll be our 12th anniversary in exactly a month's time from now, and I really look forward to our anniversary getaway weekend. Cheers to forever, baby.

Let us take a moment to look at the root cause of how violence escalated from 3rd of May until now: 1. Fake&fabricated news about a meitei lady being raped in Churachandpur made the rounds on social media widely circulated which was later clarified by concerned authorities & the alleged victimโ€™s parents that no such thing occurred. 2. Based on this information, tribal women in Imphal-meitei dominated localities were subjected to sexual&physical abuse and brutality. Meitei women the so called Imas/ #MeiraPaibis were seen encouraging their sons/boys to rape a tribal girl in broad daylight. They were seen actively participating in the lynching of Kuki-zo tribals. 3. Despite all these, the so called *#MeiraPaibis* declared the 3rd Nupilal so brazenly. The so called Mothers encouraging their sons to violate another womenโ€™s daughter has shown us how degraded the mentality of these meitei women are. 4. While calling out for peace in-front of national media houses, their so called activist Binalakshmi Nepram apparently forgot how in the name of #WomenEmpowerment her own womenfolk from her community colluded in sheltering & instigating violence against their fellow women. Double standard hypocrisy Alert. The very women that went wild & crazy thirsting for blood & weapon are now crying PEACE infront of outsiders is a staged act hidden with vicious malice. 5. We cannot trust women that demanded the violation of another womenโ€™s precious daughter & took part in their lynching. We cannot take part in a movement of Peace where women have innocent blood in their hands. #MeiraPaibis giving women & feminism a bad name. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ #MeiteiWarCrimes #MeiteisAreLiars #MeiteiRapists #MeiteiAttrocities

๐Ÿ–ค WOW! Another amazing friend of Nolan Wells speaks: Tracestin Shepherd. Iโ€™ll call him T. With Brandon Tatum Part 5: ๐Ÿ–ค Mom said this wasnโ€™t one of Nolanโ€™s close friends (yet again), yet he parked cars at Nolanโ€™s house for weeks, spent Spring Break with him, and traveled with him. ๐Ÿ–ค The beach fight. T got into a fight after a man inserted himself into him and his girlfriendโ€™s discussion, took a swing at T, and the 2 fought. Later, Warrenโ€™s younger brother, Carter, got into a separate one-on-one fight with that SAME man. Nolan was not part of the fight. ๐Ÿ–ค It makes me wonder if Nolan was targeted later because he was with this friend groupโ€”or if that same man later inserted himself into Nolanโ€™s conversation with Katie. ๐Ÿ–ค No obvious signs of a fight, THOUGH, per ME. Only the red discoloration on the back of Nolanโ€™s neck, and part of his neck is still being retained by the first medical examiner. There could be medical explanations, but a couple of my guy friends wondered if maybe Nolan had been choked out. ๐Ÿ–ค Last sighting by T: Nolan and Katie were walking toward Wyattโ€™s boat while T headed to his uncleโ€™s boat. T didnโ€™t say Nolan was getting on the boat or leaving. Katie remains part of the timeline. ๐Ÿ–ค T says the โ€œGive me my effing phoneโ€ voice is his, not Nolanโ€™s. Nolanโ€™s coach also said it wasnโ€™t Nolanโ€™s voice. ๐Ÿ–ค T said they searched with Wyatt the next day. I wish heโ€™d said which boat. Iโ€™m assuming the 18-foot Palm Beach, since the 22-footer reportedly had water issuesโ€”but thatโ€™s only my assumption. Lastly, why arenโ€™t we considering that Nolan may have gotten onto someone elseโ€™s boat and something happened there? Or that he simply got himself into trouble in the water? What if, under the influence of alcohol, he was injured and tried swimming to shore? Is that why he was found face down? Maybe he drank too much and suffered alcohol poisoning. Maybe someone put something in his drink. Maybe thatโ€™s why weโ€™re not seeing clearer answers yet, and why toxicology could be so important. ๐Ÿ”—Link
