Why is my baby always sticking out their tongue? If you’re a new parent you may notice that your newborn spends a lot of time with their tongue protruding from their mouth. Not only is this totally normal, it’s a reflex. The extrusion reflex (sometimes referred to as the tongue thrust reflex) is an important feeding and survival mechanism for infants that works alongside the sucking reflex to help them find nourishment and - importantly - prevent choking. At birth, babies have not yet developed to muscular control necessary to swallow anything other than liquid. The extrusion reflex both assists in taking milk from a breast or bottle and helps to expel anything else from the mouth. In fact, one measure of whether your baby is prepared to begin spoon feeding is whether their tongue thrust has sufficiently subsided (which usually happens between 4-6 months). If you try spoon feeding too early, the extrusion reflex helps to guard the gate - and will help to push that spoon (and any associated food) right back out of the mouth. Apparently dads get postnatal depression now. And this brave chap is raising awareness of it via a Times article. I’m not saying becoming a father isn’t a big adjustment for men. Of course they should get help if that leads to depression. But it’s women whose bodies are, literally, changed by conception, pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding. Not just by the physical changes and challenges, but by the hormonal changes that go with them. And this feels like just another example of women not being able to have anything for themselves - including the very thing only their bodies can do. Not every aspect of female experience needs a male equivalent.

Bart and Lisa Simpson have had the best day ever they said… 🐜 Not one more tick or flea on them 🥘 Lovely big fresh cooked food to make them strong 🏡 They has a nice house to rest and get their strength back 🐶 Gently met their new friends at the land 😇 Tina has taken them under her wing showing them around and tucking them into bed and fussing over them. 😴 Sleeping together and never more than a few inches apart all day. They were in a bush 24 hours ago bleeding and with bad anemia, very weak and about to die so it’s a good turnaround. 🚁 Their little tails have been activated and life is looking up for the Simpsons 🥰🙏

A Baloch Girl speaking about the closure of girls' schools in Paroom, Panjgur. As she bravely says, their parents happily allow them for their studies, but the government has shut down the schools and not providing them with facilities for their studies. The schools are closed for years due to lack of teachers and other basic facilities. The students, mostly girls of Paroom, organized a protest demanding facilitation in schools. As per, Baloch Literacy Campaign report, there are sixteen schools which are closed in Paroom. Most of them are girls schools. We appreciate this small struggle of the students and are happy to see them raising their voice for their education.
