From the Archives (19th May 2012): Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam offering worship on the shores of the ocean at Dhanushkodi – the meeting point of Mahodadhi and Ratnakara. In His Anugraha Bhashanam delivered on 17th May, the Jagadguru said that of all the Kshetras (holy towns) in the nation, Rameswaram is famous because Bhagavan Parameshwara was consecrated by Bhagavan Rama Himself and resides here. The Jagadguru then explained the significance of the word “Rameswara” by recounting an incident from the times of Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Sri Padmapada, one of the chief disciples of Sri Adi Shankaracharya undertook a pilgrimage and came to Rameswaram. The people of Rameswaram questioned Sri Padmapada on the significance of the word “Rameswara”. Sri Padmapada replied thus – Some people understand the meaning to be “the Lord of Rama”. Others would say “He for whom Sri Rama is the Lord”. Whereas we say that Rameswara is He who is Rama and He who is Ishwara. This was stated by Sri Padmapada because essentially, there is no difference in the forms of Bhagavan. People belonging to the first category who state the meaning as “the Lord of Rama” feel that Lord Shiva is greater than Sri Rama. The second category feel Sri Rama is greater than Lord Shiva. Neither of these is acceptable to us. Vairamuthu Ramasamy is a disgusting repeat offender when it comes to insulting sacred Hindu deities and grossly abusing Hindu Dharma. Now Vairamuthu who ironically in his name has 'Rama' perversely misinterpreting the Kamba Ramayana has called Lord Rama mentally unstable / mental sanity ( புத்திசுவாதீனம் இழந்து விட்டான் ). Vairamuthu had earlier caused national outrage by disgustingly using foul language to attack Goddess Andal, now has the temerity to abuse Lord Rama. Vairamuthu went on to sickly misinterpret Kamba Ramayanam stating Lord Rama had lost his sanity so he can’t be incriminated as per IPC 84. (defence of legal insanity). Vairamuthu is a disgrace and he needs to immediately apologise to the crores of devotees of Lord Rama and Hindu Dharma. Does Vairamuthu have the courage to utter such blasphemy against other religions? This profanity was uttered in an event organised by a sitting DMK Lok Sabha MP. Why has the DMK leadership not condemned these remarks. Earlier a former DMK Union Minister had said the Hindu Religion is a menace to the world and the CM’s son had said Sanatana Dharma should be eliminated The DMK’s current silence only goes on to show their deep rooted anti Hindu mindset.

The trip to Dallas has been full of emotions After two games in the heat yesterday, Jacob came out of the dugout sobbing. My heart is breaking for my kids. During today’s game, I asked the Lord to give Jacob strength, to let him compartmentalize the game and his grief. He and his nana were as thick as thieves and I wondered if telling him was the right move. He struggled batting today. His last at bat we needed one more run to end the game. He stepped up, swung, hit the ball almost effortlessly 350 feet over the wall. And as any good mother would do, I walked through the thorns and brush to find that ball. And sitting in the middle of the sidewalk, there it was 💜💜💜 Blessings in the pain, that’s the Lord 💜
