Residents of Lumumba Drive in Roysambu constituency have taken to the streets to protest the deplorable state of roads, blaming their area MP Augustine Kamande Mwafrika, for failing to deliver basic infrastructure despite multiple pledges he made during his campaign. The residents frustration stems from the large funds allocated to Roysambu through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), which they believe should have been used to fix the poor road conditions. Official records show that constituency received Ksh 145,087,603.00 in the 2022/2023 financial year and Ksh 175,361,810.00 in the 2023/2024 financial year, totalling over Ksh 320 million across the two years most roads in the constituency remain in a terrible state, with potholes and poor drainage. They are now demanding transparency and accountability from MP Augustine Kamande, calling for a clear explanation of how the NG-CDF funds were spent and why key infrastructure projects, like road repairs, were not prioritized.

These trucks have been rerouting there due to the poor state of the main tarmac road which is beyond repair. In response, on Thursday morning, truck drivers initiated a go-slow, demanding that the Machakos County government repair their designated roads to prevent further inconvenience to other motorists.
