49 years later, Star Wars (1977) still fully deserves to be watched again and again. 49 years ago today, Star Wars reminded audiences why movies matter. It gave us adventure, imagination, hope, myth, spectacle — but above all, wonder. Before CGI ruled Hollywood, before franchises dominated culture, there was a film that made millions stare at a screen and feel like anything was possible. Some movies entertain. A few redefine cinema. Star Wars did both. 49 years later, the Force is still strong.

Still find it wild that this was the teaser that 20th Century Fox approved for the original Star Wars in 1977. Makes the film look incredibly ominous and is honestly just pretty unsettling.

Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars (1977) is one of those performances that gets better with age. Even now, half the emotional weight of Star Wars still traces back to how he played that role.

Battlefront 2 (2017) will forever be one of my absolute favorite Star Wars games ever, but it will never not break my heart that support for it ended as abruptly as it did, & that Battlefront 3 will most likely never happen. 💔 It was-and still is-such a fun game!

That opening fly-over in Star Wars (1977), the Star Destroyer chasing the ambassador ship, still feels endless in the best way. The scale just keeps growing, then the docking bay slides past and it somehow gets even bigger.

Billions of dollars and fans still make better Star Wars movies than Disney using AI No cheesy girl bosses No useless dialogue between LGBT characters Just solid fighting scenes with unpredictable outcomes that appeal to men, the way it used to be and it was meant to be

It wasn’t the $500 that changed everything. It was what making that first $500 made her believe was possible.

49 years ago today — May 25, 1977 — Star Wars: A New Hope hit theaters and changed everything. That same year, Burger Chef released these epic collector posters with a large Coke for just 49¢! C-3PO & R2-D2 approved. Who still has theirs? May the Force (and the Big Shef... if you know, you know) be with you! #StarWars
