ONLY AT STARBASE: CHRISTMAS PARADE ROLLS PAST ROCKET FACTORY SpaceX really said "we're sending humans to Mars AND doing a holiday parade." Decorated trucks, a giant snowman, and festive lights cruising down Highway 4 into the production site where Starship is being built. Most workplaces get a sad plastic Christmas tree in the break room. Starbase gets a full parade past the facility changing human spaceflight forever. Work hard, celebrate harder. 🇺🇸 ELON: WE BUILT A ROCKET CITY FROM NOTHING SpaceX literally incorporated their launch site as a city and put it on a public road. You can just drive by and watch them build Starships. That's wild... “This is a city that we built out of nothing thanks to the hard work of the SpaceX team. It’s now a gigantic rocket manufacturing system. We’re actually on a public highway, so you can come and visit and see the epic hardware. I think this is the first rocket development program ever on a public highway.” Source: Department of War Elon Musk

The Starbase Booster shuffle keeps on going, as B15 (flight 7) left the Rocket Garden and made its way back to Mega Bay 1. It remains to be seen what SpaceX plans for this booster and why it returned from the garden. NSF - NASASpaceflight.com

Anyone can visit the SpaceX production and launch facility in South Texas Since the entire site is located along a public highway, visitors can drive by anytime to see the factory and get a close-up view of the largest flying object on Earth

SPACEX: I visited Pecan Island in Louisiana's Vermilion Parish. The 136,000-acre site, owned by ExxonMobil and Vermilion Corporation, is under consideration by SpaceX for their next spaceport. Vermilion Corporation owns an unused dock on Freshwater Bayou at the mouth of the Gulf of America. This location would allow SpaceX to barge Super Heavy Boosters and Starships from Starbase. Farther north lies the Freshwater City public boat ramp and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Freshwater Lock, which connects to the Intracoastal Waterway. I flew over the area closest to the port. The land appears stable. Note that the full 212-square-mile site extends across the entire area visible east of the port

Elon Musk: SpaceX is building GigaBay to produce 1,000 Starships per year At GigaBay, SpaceX is massively expanding production and integration to reach an annual output of 1,000 Starships The structure itself is enormous, by some measures, it will be the largest building on Earth It’s designed specifically for rapid Starship assembly at unprecedented scale SpaceX is building two GigaBays, one in Texas and another in Florida, bringing Starship production to the Space Coast When you see a human next to these buildings, the scale becomes obvious It’s hard to grasp how massive they are until you do This is industrial capacity built for one purpose: making life multi-planetary....🚀

Starship doesn't use the same thickness of steel everywhere—and that's exactly what keeps it from breaking apart at Mach 1. During the transonic phase, shockwaves and intense aerodynamic loads concentrate on specific sections of the vehicle. If the entire rocket used uniform steel, it would either be too heavy to reach orbit or too weak to survive Max-Q. Here's why SpaceX engineered Starship with variable-thickness stainless steel. #SpaceX #Starship #StarshipFlight13 #ElonMusk #RocketScience #AerospaceEngineering #Engineering #MaxQ #Transonic #SpaceExploration #Rocketry

So I think this is the first time that a rocket development program has actually been on a public highway." 一 Elon Musk

How can replacing four engines decide the fate of the world's most powerful rocket? 🚀 After Starship Flight 13's last-second abort, SpaceX is swapping out four Raptor engines on Booster 20 before trying again. With the first functional Starlink V3 deployment and multiple critical flight tests on the line, this launch could mark a major milestone on the road to full reusability. Here's why Flight 13 matters. #Starship #Flight13 #StarshipFlight13 #SpaceX #ElonMusk #Starbase #StarshipV3 #Raptor #Booster20 #Ship40 #StarlinkV3 #RocketLaunch

SpaceX is one of the most dominant companies on the planet and their performance gap just keeps getting bigger. In 2025, SpaceX launched more mass to orbit than every other provider on Earth combined. MUCH MORE: every payload from China, Russia, Europe, and all American launchers wasn’t even a fifth of what SpaceX put into orbit. They’re the only company producing rockets at an industrial scale. The practices that made SpaceX dominant aren’t unique to rockets. They’re a blueprint for building anything hard. This episode — and the essay it is based on — explores How SpaceX Works:

Elon Musk says steel killed carbon fiber on Starship at one-fiftieth the cost. Carbon fiber was supposed to be the future of rocketry. Lighter than aluminum. Stronger than steel. Trusted by every Formula 1 team. SpaceX picked it for Starship. "Particularly if you go for a high-strength specialized carbon fiber that can handle cryogenic oxygen, it's roughly 50 times the cost of steel." Then progress stalled. The autoclaves needed to cure the resin had to outsize every autoclave on Earth, and the team couldn't even produce a clean barrel section without wrinkles. Musk, watching the Mars timeline slip: "At this rate, we're never going to get to Mars. So we've got to think of something else." So he asked the question nobody at SpaceX had asked: "What about steel?" It became known as the cryogenic stainless flip. Musk, who had already shipped Falcon 9 in aluminum-lithium, broke with the textbook. "When you look at the material properties of stainless steel, full-hard, strain hardened stainless steel, at cryogenic temperature the strength to weight is actually similar to carbon fiber." Starship ran on cryogenic methane and oxygen. The airframe lived at temperatures that flipped steel ahead of carbon fiber. "You could smoke a cigar while welding stainless steel." After Musk made the call, steel weighed less than the carbon fiber version. Fifty times cheaper in raw material. Twice the heat tolerance. Half the heat shield mass. Musk, looking back: "In retrospect, we should have started with steel in the beginning. It was dumb not to do steel." What "obvious" material in your work is silently costing you the project? — Elon Musk (.Elon Musk , CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, on Dwarkesh Patel's (.Dwarkesh Patel) podcast

Can SpaceX Really Become More Valuable than rest of Earth? 😯 Elon Musk recently made one of his boldest predictions yet. Speaking about SpaceX, he said: "You don't seem to understand that SpaceX will be worth more than the rest of Earth if we accomplish our goals." That's an incredible statement. SpaceX is already one of the world's most valuable companies after its historic public listing. So what does he see that everyone else doesn't?🧐 Is SpaceX just another aerospace company, or is it trying to build the foundation of an entirely new economy—one that stretches from Earth into space?🚀 The first part of that vision is already becoming reality. SpaceX has launched thousands of Starlink satellites into orbit...If satellite internet continues to grow, many analysts believe Starlink alone could become one of the world's most valuable communications businesses. The second piece is Starship, the largest and most powerful rocket SpaceX has ever built... Elon wants humanity to become a multi-planetary species by building a self-sustaining city on Mars. SpaceX hopes Starship will one day transport people, equipment, and supplies to the Red Planet. But becoming more valuable than rest of Earth would depend on turning ambitious ideas like Starship and Mars into reality—something no company has ever done before. The question isn't just whether SpaceX can become the world's most valuable company. It's whether Elon Musk's biggest dream—making humanity a multi-planetary civilization—will actually become reality.🤔🤔
