Simon: It’s better in a union because workers have a say in their workplace. When something’s wrong or unsafe, we can speak up, make our voices heard, and hold management to the contract. Federal workers need bargaining rights because people don’t always make the best decisions—and that includes management. When management makes poor choices, or ones that aren’t in the best interests of employees or the veterans we serve, it creates problems and can lead to unsafe conditions for both our veteran patients and our workers. Having a union ensures we have a safe, fair workplace.
