Google started their self driving project in 2009. And for over a decade and half, we’ve had the kinds of cool demos we sometimes now see for robotics, without any commercially viable and widely deployed machines. Sergey thinks we're in a different regime with robotics today, for 2 reasons: 1. Mistakes are way less costly (killing someone versus breaking a dish), so you can deploy much earlier and actually learn from those mistakes in deployement. 2. LLMs give robots a level of common sense which significantly boosts their generality. "You can say, 'Hey, there's a sign that says slippery floor. What's going to happen when I walk over that?' A few years ago you'd rarely see an autonomous vehicle outside a handful of test cities... now they run commercial fleets across the US, coming for rideshare and taxis. Every one of them is a driver who doesn't sleep, unionise, or ask for a raise. When China joined the WTO it flooded the world with cheap labour and held inflation down for two decades. What's coming now is far bigger. People are accepting it faster than any technology in history, and the reason is simple. There is no other choice.

But there may be another, much smaller physical-AI mining story developing through NovaRed Mining (CSE: NRED / OTCQB: NREDF) and On July 13, NRED announced a 30-day exclusive standstill and due-diligence process regarding the potential acquisition of an interest in EyeX technology. Importantly, there is no completed acquisition yet, and no deal is guaranteed. So how do the two strategies compare? Atoms + Pronto Atoms is currently focused on automating physical work inside operating mines: Autonomous haul trucks OEM-agnostic fleet retrofits Cameras, LiDAR and radar Commercial quarry and mining deployments Immediate productivity and labor savings Atoms is essentially building the autonomous execution layer for established industrial operations. Its mining division is anchored by Pronto, whose autonomous haulage technology has reportedly moved more than two million tons and is being deployed across 100+ trucks.
