We are engaging with countries in the Middle East and the Gulf, which now show a strong interest in Ukraine’s experience in defending against drones. We already see that not only “shaheds” are being used in the region, but there is also growing evidence of the use of FPV drones. This is modern warfare, and everyone must be prepared for it. Ukraine has this expertise, and in exchange for our support we need help in areas where we face greater challenges. This includes protection against ballistic threats and financial resources for defense. Ukraine offers a mutually beneficial partnership: we can strengthen those who can strengthen us. I met with Frans Timmermans, leader of the Green-Labour alliance in the Netherlands. We discussed Ukraine’s defense support, diplomacy, security guarantees, and our future in the European Union. We value the Netherlands’ readiness to continue supporting Ukraine. I also want to highlight their participation in the PURL initiative. The Netherlands was among the first to join and has already allocated 500 million dollars for American weapons for Ukraine; it is also funding the purchase of drones. Joint production projects are next in line. And this is extremely important for our defense against Russian aggression. The Netherlands has stood with us from the very start of the full-scale war – helping Ukraine, Ukrainian families, and our military. And I am grateful for this ongoing support.

I held a meeting with the heads of investment funds and business associations, both Ukrainian and international. We discussed how we can expand the capabilities of our defense industry, develop new areas of cooperation, and open export platforms for weapons. We count on continued support for Ukraine. For us, this is one of the new spheres where we can see tangible growth in cooperation and in Ukraine’s defense industry. According to our estimates, in 2026, the production potential for drones and missiles alone will reach 35 billion dollars. Ukraine is ready to share its expertise and technologies and to develop joint production. We are also ready to open export platforms for weapons in Europe, the United States, and other countries, provided there is proper control and protection of our technologies. I thank everyone who supports Ukraine, invests in Ukrainian intelligent strength, and enables us to keep building our joint capabilities together. I also thank the representatives for the meeting and for the proposals voiced. We will certainly work through each of them.

We see the challenges that exist now: the Iranian regime has effectively blocked the Strait of Hormuz – one of the main routes for supplying oil and gas to the global market. This is a major source of instability. No one in the world can yet say how long all of this will last, but it is important that the protection of life starts working effectively as soon as possible. Stability is important for us as well. Those now seeking Ukraine’s help must continue to assist our own defense – first and foremost, our air defense. Last year we already proposed a drone agreement to the United States. This is the right way forward: to partner with us in the production and use of drones, and everyone now sees that there is no alternative to this approach. Ukraine has the greatest experience in the world in countering attack drones, and without our experience it will be very difficult for the Gulf region, the entire Middle East, and partners in Europe and America to build strong protection.

I held a meeting with Latvian Defense Minister Raivis Melnis, who is visiting Ukraine on his first trip abroad since taking office. We discussed the implementation of the Drone Deal signed between our countries this week. Through this format, in particular, we will be able to share with Latvia our expertise in air defense. Ukraine is always ready to help friends who have stood with us since the very beginning of Russia’s aggression. And, importantly, we share the same understanding: security challenges arise because Russia refuses to end its war through diplomacy. We also discussed opportunities to finance joint projects under SAFE and cooperation within the European Union, NATO, and the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF). I thank Latvia and all the Latvian people for their support!

As always, a good and productive meeting with Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre. We discussed in detail our cooperation in the production and use of drones. Our experience is already being used in the Middle East and the Gulf. We are improving defense against “shahed” drones, and we believe this should also be done in Europe. Today, for this purpose, we initiated a Drone Deal with Norway and signed a Joint Declaration on Enhanced Defense and Security Cooperation. Now our teams will work out the details. We also focused on our joint production projects and cooperation priorities for this year, and not only in defense. We continue to work together with partners to strengthen our countries. At the same time, many partners—who, for objective reasons, cannot supply weapons directly—do not have their own stockpiles but can support us financially. Some partners also possess specialized technologies that can be applied in Ukraine right now, helping in our defense and active operations. There is also leadership among nations that unites others globally to support our joint production efforts. I want to thank every partner who has already invested in Ukraine’s defense industry. Thanks to these investments, we have significantly increased production, particularly of drones.

Today, I addressed Sweden’s annual national conference "Society and Defense," one of Northern Europe’s most important security and defense events. We can see that Russia’s aggressive ambitions can be thwarted if there is sufficient strength to do so. And we can only provide such strength collectively, in solidarity, by working together to strengthen each other. Ukraine has already begun joint defense cooperation with Türkiye, Romania, Poland, and the UK. We have similar agreements with Czechia, the United States, and Germany. And, of course, our suggestion for partners is to cooperate, develop, and grow stronger together. Ukraine is and will be one of Europe’s most significant security donors. We aim for the best weapons and technology in the world for our own and our partners' security. Joint production with Sweden is a priority for us. And I am certain that the day will come when we will see the opening of the first Ukrainian-Swedish joint production in Ukraine.
