Starting June 30, Louisiana drivers cannot get a ticket for not having an inspection sticker. However, vehicles registered in East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Ascension, Livingston and Iberville parishes are still federally required to get annual emissions inspections.

The taxpayers who live in North Baton Rouge deserve the same level of investment as places like Central, Zachary, and midtown Baton Rouge. But too often, the story told about North Baton Rouge is different. Local media shapes perception—and perception impacts investment. The way reporters cover North versus other parts of Baton Rouge does real harm to our progress. At the same time, a lack of serious coordination from elected officials—on both sides—continues to hold this community back. And we have to be honest: continuing to elect people who aren’t aggressive on the issues that impact our quality of life only deepens the problem. Let’s also not ignore reality. Central is about 70% white. North Baton Rouge is about 85% Black. That contrast matters in how resources flow and how priorities are set. And to be clear—I named those specific communities because the data backs it up. Higher incomes, lower crime, and higher homeownership rates all support sustained retail and economic development. That doesn’t mean North Baton Rouge can’t. It means we haven’t made the investments necessary for it to. Improving the quality of life in North Baton Rouge doesn’t just benefit one part of the parish—it makes all of East Baton Rouge stronger. Share if you care 🦾

REMINDER: Beginning on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, Texas’ Vehicle Safety Inspection Program will eliminate most vehicle safety inspections. All non-commercial vehicles will no longer need a vehicle safety inspection prior to being registered in Texas. A few things to keep in mind: ◾All non-commercial vehicles in the state will be subject to a $7.50 inspection program replacement fee. We have segregationists in Baton Rouge, and we keep letting them ruin what we’ve built as a community. The wealthiest, whitest part of Baton Rouge broke off to form the city of St. George. Now they’re trying to create their own school district—but still want access to Baton Rouge’s top-ranked magnet schools. It’s a Hell no for me. If you want to break away, then stay away. If you live in St. George and you’re not speaking out against this, then your kids should attend schools in the city you created. Baton Rouge is “too trash” for them to share power—but they still want what we built. They want our labor, our resources, our culture—and to leave us with the debt and no harvest. That’s modern-day sharecropping. They don’t like to pay their bills, and they expect us to carry the cost while they walk away with the benefit. Multiple criminals walk up to a home in East Baton Rouge and blindly open fire into the home at 4am. Reportedly the only person shot with all of those shots was a 13 year old who was hit in the leg. No suspects are in custody and of course there was a Draco, no braces seen, and 0 sight pictures acquired. On Instagram, Ford wrote that she has known Marquee since she was in first grade. “When you slammed the diploma down I knew it was up from there!” Ford wrote in the caption. A lot of justifying and lying is going to happen on the internet today about the mayor’s race in Baton Rouge. So I’m going to sit back and watch people tell on themselves. Next, I’m going to get the full numbers and analyze them. When I unpack this, I’ll speak the truth—because a lot happened here. Here’s the reality: Republicans win when the majority of people don’t vote. And local news never really exposes the truth about Republicans because they support them. Let’s talk about Black leadership in Louisiana: Black Democrats have now lost the mayor’s races in Shreveport, Alexandria, Monroe, and Baton Rouge. Of Louisiana’s 5 largest cities, New Orleans is the only one left with a Black mayor. In just 5 years, we’ve lost all those gains—not because Republicans are running great campaigns, but because our leadership refuses to change.
