I don't think vtubers are "big enough" for them to care about fixing their stupid "AI detector" content detector I've been saying this for years and this kind of confirms it tbh (I've only had hunches on how the algorithm behaves based on views, not actual content warnings)

Leaflit just released her tool to the public on Monday. If there has been so much of an impact from that in a meer 4 days that is distorting the algorithm to the point it needs flagging, there are a LOT of people who were waiting for a new opportunity and just took it.

Leaflit’s tool isn’t the cause. When I stumbled upon it, it made me realize ‘oh, so this is why TikTok might believe vtubers are ai’. There’s a lot of shorts content and various other content being flagged as ai. Vtubers are getting lumped into it. It’s more to do with the way bigger social sites are getting moderated. Even after trying to appeal, vtubers are still getting flagged under ai and then suppressing views because of it.

@Kodiak_VT @MachinistMStrem So you’re saying activist moderators who work for these major platforms are acting for the interest of their ideology and not for the interests of the company

MachinistM's profile picture
MachinistM3 months ago

Might be against the companies interests, might not be. The shifts we have seen in the tech sector at the grunt level aren't because of some organic revolution, they are due to people shoveling out money with specific caveats attatched. It clearly doesn't matter at this point how shitty these companies treat customers and the creatives they depend on, as long as the shareholders get their dividend plus 4%.

Leaflit would probably be down to talk to you about this since you were generous with her and the topic in general. It sounds like an interesting conversation worth having.

I think you are missing the mark, she released this 2 days ago? Are you saying she affected the algorithm that quickly? I think her personal friends are the only people who have even actually streamed with the models so far. I know you wanna blame something but make it logical.

ChaCha ☕️💟's profile picture

Not her fault at all. It’s a bigger issue with the moderation systems that sites like YouTube and TikTok use.

Discordia🍻🎖's profile picture

You are absolutely right ChaCha. It's the same with all the AI art flooding the platform. No one can find genuine artists anymore in a sea of slop. Im not going to virtue signaling against AI, but there are clear negatives to its use and we are seeing those now.

Tiktok using AI to run their AI detection and it failing to detect AI while throttling real users

Malware 🔴⚡️'s profile picture

That’s why I hate algorithms being run by AI. They’ll strike you for the dumbest shit and even if you have evidence to disprove the claim, it doesn’t matter. It’s so stupid

Oh look what I predicted would happen, happened. Ai slop drags everyone down rather than elevating anyone like as promised

I don’t understand how people watched this and somehow concluded that ChaCha was blaming Leaflit.

Much like a few others have mentioned I think you and leaf should talk about the subject, she can shed some light about the topic and it would be interesting to hear your opinion after the discussion.

Wrong. They've set it up to flag vtubers on purpose.

I mean Neuro sama has been on TikTok for a while now and that’s pure ai. Did Neuro cause this issue?

SnarkMonkey's profile picture

Your conclusion is wrong. The machine does not mistake vtubers as AI. How do I know? Because AI tubers don’t really exist. There’s one or two actual AI streamers, but other than that, there just aren’t. And AI-created models are irrelevant. It is TAUGHT to treat vtubers as AI.

My dusty brain wheels are turning now. So AI-Vtuber model good cause low budget startup. (I support this) But algorithm sees it as AI, lumps all VTubers (3D, 2D) and suppresses it. Now Vtubeing is getting oversaturated again with new creators using the AI tools and platform algorithms can't tell the difference between fake and real? Could we just overload the algo with content and try to break through with sheer numbers?

AI moderation is the real problem here, because AI uses real content for training, it’ll always end up end up in a death spiral where it recognizes itself (AI) but also is unable to recognize actual content as it is constantly being fed real art for training.

They just need to fix their algorithms...the ones they constantly keep changing. Leaflit's AI program isn't to blame. The ones who control these algorithms and some of them primitive automation to help with the scale of everything because it's inhumanly possible to keep up with. They aren't prioritizing Vtubers unfortunately. There do happen to be alot of similar looking Vtubers out there. Some are blatant copy cats of other Vtubers. We've all seen them before.

their (platforms) garbage-ass flagging systems have been fucking vtubers forever... +leaflits tool is entirely too new for them to have associated any content using it with the slopslapper algos that normally abuse vtubers that said, there is plenty of slop in the anime style (including useful advertising clip-slop) that is polluting the detector algos... but that shit is churned out in such immense volume, that it'll never matter how much of it gets slapped... the really shitty part of this whole situation is that content creators benefit from clippers advertising them effectively, but too much clip-slop will get the original creators flagged as slop themselves, making it a double edged sword of visibility and suppression

Joey Knish's profile picture

Nobody has streamed enough on Leaf's new system for there to be an algorithmic impact. Moreover, Neuro exists to disprove this whole thing, as a generative AI herself. Tiktok is also a really shitty algo as far as content delivery and striking content goes.

Lemme just say, its not Leaflit and her AI thats the issue, it the detection algorithm thats causing issues. Basically they could solve all this by having a human check you stuff instead of insta banning when a flag is flown.

Before people get up in arms because I know Leaflit has been getting flamed a lot lately, Chacha is pointing the finger at the PLATFORMS, not Leaflit or her projects. 2D avatars are getting suppressed because platforms lazy. That's the argument going on. Not arguments about AI.

It’s really annoying cause so much ai shit it’s getting flooded into the algorithm so it’s really annoying. It’s hurting us more than helping anyone

I think AI being used as admins/mods to dictate peoples content online shouldn't be allowed, at most it should scan videos, and ping a real person so they can check if the video is actually good or if it's good, I don't really care to much about gen ai being used for models

Controversy aside, both your models look and move incredibly well. I hope this AI mixup trend turns around soon.

Corpos using AI is the problem, not individuals. These major companies need to stop using AI moderation to do the work people should be doing.

Keylimpz's profile picture
Keylimpz3 months ago

it's a problem that plagues most platforms; there's nobody to supervise the mod bots. the clankers are running the whole show and getting a real human being to address any issues is impossible. vtubers are literally the most oppressed class.

Someone who just wants to accept AI is here to stay but I'm not really going to stop anybody using it. But AI do open the gates of more problems. Not just stealing jobs but if AI can make anything? What happens if an evil individual uses it to make something evil? Illegal maybe?

I will be real, the platforms flag it for years since the 2021 when clippers and vtubers got striked. I think theorizing on this is messed up and the smartest thing is to be on the platforms that do not have the fucked up ai mod or fund/make the new one that did it well.

As parents, we should teach the young how to navigate. Give them directions when they feel lost. Move them away from blind hatred and stop them from feeding on it. Learn a new skill and branch out.

@SmugAlana So I'd be screwed (not in a good way) if I used that cheaper alternative to become a Vtuber? That's genuinely disappointing. I guess Husbando Wardancer will have to wait a bit.
