Tough call, but it looks like the correct call

Just for clarification, it’s not interference. It’s obstruction. But yes. Clearly delayed obstruction. Play continues and umpire’s discretion if they contact impedes the runner.

It was a tough call. My first reaction was to say that the player covering third didn't interfere with the runner's base path. But there was contact, and as there was no play being made at third, the argument that there was obstruction is valid.

I have to say that umpire crew was excellent in that situation. Great rotation by home and first base to be in position for their calls. It’s a shitty way to lose a state championship but it did affect the play so it’s the correct call.

I don’t understand… if it was 1-0, why was the white team celebrating after the double play as if they won? Wasn’t the score 0-0?

Clearly the 3rd baseman interferes - brutal decision as the double play would have happened without that obstacle
