I have witnessed with deep concern and sadness the acts of brutality perpetrated by members of the Police Force against citizens and Advocate Mahinyila within the precincts of the High Court of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam Registry. Such criminal conduct is indefensible and cannot be justified under any circumstance. I have directed our designated officer to immediately follow up and obtain a detailed account of the incident. Upon receipt of this report, the Governing Council of the Tanganyika Law Society will convene urgently to deliberate on the matter and provide a clear direction. In a disturbing escalation of political violence in West Bengal, the TMC launched a violent attack at the BJP District Party Office in Cooch Behar. The Assembly Elections are probably 11 months away but TMC have unleashed their attack dogs on the principal opposition party; BJP. This shows that they are losing ground and that's why they are resorting to violence so early. The Party Office is located in the Cooch Behar town and the incident unfolded in the presence of Mamata Police. TMC Goons along with Jihadists who are under the patronage of Mamata Police executed the attack. Several of our Karyakartas got injured badly. Recently, BJP MLA from Cooch Behar South Assembly Constituency; Shri Nikhil Ranjan Dey was attacked by TMC Goons while he was going towards Dinhata Court. Today's incident has reignited concerns over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the district and all over the state as well. I share my outrage at the cowardly attack on the BJP team comprising of Malda North MP Sh. Khagen Murmu ji, and Siliguri MLA Dr. Shankar Ghosh ji, and other BJP leaders and karyakartas, near Nagarkatta. These leaders are visiting the landslide hit areas in Dooars, and were on a humanitarian mission. Such heinous and planned attack on elected representatives of the people, will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Elected representatives, regardless of their political affiliation, have the duty and the right to serve their constituents without fear of violence or intimidation. The actions of those responsible for this attack are a direct affront to the rule of law and the fundamental rights of every citizen. I request the Jalpaiguri District Administration, and WB Government to take strictest action against the perpetrators, all of whom have been caught on camera.

Today, I came to the Metropolitan Detention Center to exercise my constitutional rights as a Member of Congress to check on the safety and conditions of SEIU California President David Huerta, who was arrested by ICE. I pled with the National Guard, which was heavily armed, not to use their weapons against peaceful demonstrators who were simply exercising their rights to freedom of speech and protest. All people deserve to be treated with dignity and due process under the law. Peaceful, nonviolent demonstrations are critical to protecting our constitutional rights!

It's based on evidence and a reasonable, articulable basis to believe a crime has occurred. Based on the evidence, investigators determined a kidnapping in Yucaipa did not occur. It is believed Emmauel is deceased and the search to recover his remains is ongoing. Arrest warrants were obtained from the Riverside County Superior Court and on August 22, 2025, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Homicide Detail and Specialized Enforcement Division arrested Jake and Rebecca Haro at their residence in Cabazon, for PC 187 - Murder. Both suspects were booked in a Riverside County jail without bail. No other arrests have been made, and no suspects remain outstanding. While these arrests mark a significant development, our focus remains on finding Emmanuel. Sheriff Shannon Dicus stated, “The circumstances surrounding this investigation are tragic and we will continue to search for Emmanuel. All this while former President Trump continues to attack her relentlessly to his supporters, and as Republicans at the county, state, and federal level do everything they can to undermine and impugn and stymie her work and smear her personally. This level of sustained public attack is not usually the price of entry for doing your job as a district attorney. Nor should it be in a country where the rule of law is supposedly the rule. The ability of prosecutors and judges to do their jobs without fear is a fundamental test of our democracy. Whether you like the Georgia criminal case against former President Trump or not, Fani Willis is one of the bellwethers for the rule of law in this country. The history of the rule of law in this country tells us that the rule of law does not magically defend itself. And it is mortal. It can be killed when it is attacked. It breaks. The rule of law in this country, in practical terms, is made up of people doing hard jobs who themselves can break when they are attacked. And right now, you and I, all of us, we are making history in this country. And the history that we are making is that there is no one defending Fani Willis but herself. And in the noble alternate version of this history that we'd like to imagine we would be part of, the whole country would be up in arms about Georgia and about New York and about all of these cases, telling these people to back off the judges, back off the witnesses and the jurors, back off the prosecutors, back off Fonny Willis. Protect these cases. Protect the rule of law. We imagine that's who we are as a country, but we are not showing it. We are not standing up to defend these people, at least not yet. Let's start with the federal government and Jim Jordan. Jim Jordan has time after time after time attacked my office with no legitimate purpose. Anyone who knows Jim Jordan's history knows that he only has the purpose of trying to interfere in a criminal investigation. He has now turned his tricks to, he's going to look at grant programs, which I invite him to do, and we have complied with his subpoenas, but yet he continues his attacks to try to interfere in a criminal investigation while all, while his jurisdiction has one of the worst crime rates, has poverty issues, and not one time has he used his position to try to investigate people who are attacking me and attacking others legitimately, doing their jobs, making him illegitimate in his position. And it's disgusting. And so I bring that up at the federal level because now at the state level, they've decided to follow this clown's lead and they want to now try to interfere in an investigation. And it's not legitimate either. And so it shall fail, and it's not going to go anywhere. But they are trying to attack me at every level."

The history of the rule of law in this country tells us that the rule of law does not magically defend itself. And it is mortal. It can be killed when it is attacked. It breaks. The rule of law in this country, in practical terms, is made up of people doing hard jobs who themselves can break when they are attacked. And right now, you and I, all of us, we are making history in this country. And the history that we are making is that there is no one defending Fani Willis but herself. And in the noble alternate version of this history that we'd like to imagine we would be part of, the whole country would be up in arms about Georgia and about New York and about all of these cases, telling these people to back off the judges, back off the witnesses and the jurors, back off the prosecutors, back off Fonny Willis. Protect these cases. Protect the rule of law. We imagine that's who we are as a country, but we are not showing it. We are not standing up to defend these people, at least not yet. Let's start with the federal government and Jim Jordan. Jim Jordan has time after time after time attacked my office with no legitimate purpose. Anyone who knows Jim Jordan's history knows that he only has the purpose of trying to interfere in a criminal investigation. He has now turned his tricks to, he's going to look at grant programs, which I invite him to do, and we have complied with his subpoenas, but yet he continues his attacks to try to interfere in a criminal investigation while all, while his jurisdiction has one of the worst crime rates, has poverty issues, and not one time has he used his position to try to investigate people who are attacking me and attacking others legitimately, doing their jobs, making him illegitimate in his position. And it's disgusting. And so I bring that up at the federal level because now at the state level, they've decided to follow this clown's lead and they want to now try to interfere in an investigation. And it's not legitimate either. And so it shall fail, and it's not going to go anywhere. But they are trying to attack me at every level."

I raised my concerns today regarding free speech on our university campuses. 🏛️ Whether it's Zionist views, gender-critical perspectives or climate scepticism, there is a demonstrable two-tier approach to free speech playing out across our higher education institutions and it is students who are bearing the brunt of it. The Higher Education Freedom of Speech Act was passed precisely to give students the right to bring complaints to the Office for Students. I posed this to the Minister today and I do not believe his response was correct. It is, after all, called the Office for Students, not the Office for Everyone on Campus Except Students. AN ATTACK OF COUNTY OFFICERS! It is the highest level of impunity for anyone to attack officers of the Nairobi City County Government while they are lawfully discharging their duties. Earlier today, our officers who went to remove an illegal structure that was blocking a public road were violently attacked and beaten by mobilized goons behaving like criminals. As a result, four of our officers are currently being treated in hospital after sustaining serious head injuries. This kind of barbaric act is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Let it also go on record that order and dignity cannot be compromised. Whenever we respond to complaints from members of the public, the same public must not turn against the very officers mandated to protect and serve them. We cannot live in a county where everyone believes the law should bend to their will. Let it be clearly understood assaulting county officers on duty is a grave offence, and we shall ensure that those who mobilized, aided, or participated in this attack are held fully accountable before the law. We will not allow a few lawless individuals to intimidate or harm officers who are working tirelessly to restore order and uphold the rule of law in our city. Our officers deserve respect, safety, and protection as they serve the people of Nairobi with dedication. An attack on one officer is an attack on the entire County Government of Nairobi, and we shall revisit this matter firmly to ensure justice is done.
