💔💔COBB COUNTY, GA💔💔💔 FROM FB: Today, while volunteering at the shelter and walking my row of dogs, I noticed a different dog in another row sitting quietly in the corner of her kennel… shaking and trying to make herself as small as possible. I looked at her kennel card and learned her name was Hazel and she had just been surrendered yesterday . 😭💔 I decided to go sit with her, hoping I could make her day just a little bit better. Little did I know… she would be the one making mine.🥹 Hazel was terrified and unsure of everyone around her. But little by little, she found the courage to take one step… then another… until she came over, kissed my face, and reminded me just how sweet she truly is. I later learned that Hazel was surrendered because the family cat repeatedly attacked her. 🥺 And through no fault of her own, she lost the only home she knew. Hazel is only 2 years old. She’s dog-friendly, good with kids, housebroken, and crate-trained. She has so much love to give, yet tonight she’s sleeping in a shelter kennel instead of a home. I spent a long time with her today, holding her close and reminding her that she is a good girl… that she is loved, that she is seen, and that someone still cares about her. Before I closed her kennel door, I made Hazel a promise.. I promised her I would share her story with the world. And I told her that I have an incredible village of people who always show up when a dog needs them most. Now I’m asking that village for one more favor. 🆘🚨LESS THAN 48 HOURS! JESSY #A2245240DIES ON WEDNESDAY 4/15 🚨🚨 Her story is tragic. What was meant to be a happily ever after quickly ended up leading to a possibly expedited death. 💔 Jessy first arrived at the shelter with her best bud, Woody after being surrendered together in November. During that time, Jessy was a regular in playgroup with other large pups, described as a helper/ greeter dog. Volunteers adored her for her sweet nature and love of belly rubs. She was bathed by the groomer and didn't have a single bad behavior note from staff her entire stay. She was the BEST girl. 2 weeks ago, Jessy and Woody took their freedom walk TOGETHER. A shepherd rescue pulled the duo and they headed to a foster to start the next chapter of their life! We were thrilled. Sadly, things took a turn for the worse quickly. The rescue claims they advised the fosters on decompression, not taking Jessy and Woody out to public places until they had time to acclimate. The fosters took them to the beach with other off leash dogs within a few days of getting them. 😞 Woody got in a fight with one dog. No one was injured. A few days later, Jessy was being walked around the foster's property and an off leash small dog approached her and she hurt the dog (who ended up passing away at the vet). The fosters said they couldn't keep them. The rescue wiped their hands of them (despite collecting pledges for them 🤯) and surrendered them back to the shelter. People offered to help with training. The rescue refused. Didn't want them anymore. Now Jessy is sentenced to death on WEDNESDAY 4/15 and must be RESCUED by 8AM that day. (Woody was adopted) Please help her. She doesn't deserve this. Ruby is a 1-year-old Belgian Malinois. She was brought to a shelter by her previous family because they said they “no longer had enough time to care for her.” When she was taken out of her kennel, Ruby looked heartbroken. She kept looking around, as if she was still hoping her former owners would come back for her. 💔 Ruby’s story was later shared online by the person who filmed her. Just a few hours later, a woman named Kimberlee, a former U.S. Air Force veteran who served for over 30 years, happened to see the video even though she wasn’t following the channel. Ruby’s story deeply touched her heart. That very night, Kimberlee drove for five hours to reach the shelter, arriving right when it opened the next morning. After losing her husband eight years ago, Kimberlee deeply understood the feeling of needing a loving companion who would always be there by her side. In less than 24 hours, Ruby found a new home. She did not bark, lunge, or show reactivity or aggression towards me. Looking into her soft eyes, I could tell she is a good girl that is innocent of her crimes. More people need to do their part and learn to read canine body language! 📝 Shelter notes and plea: Per the information received Maya had a bite incident on 12/18/24; a delivery driver was bitten on the back of the ankle and the wounds were self-treated. After receiving notice of the bite incident, the resident of the property claimed this sweet girl was a stray and confined her for pick up 💔. We will never know if that is true or not but regardless, she has completed her stray/bite quarantine and now we need to move quickly to find her a rescue plan. Maya was a little leery of the leash and walking through the kennels but once in the yard she was attentive, engaging and fun! She allows all over touch, easy to handle, gentle with treats, AND as an added bonus she tested great with both male and female dogs. This girl does not deserve to die for this incident. Maya has been failed by the people that should have protected her and kept her safe but here she is, and here we are begging you to help us help her! A dog breeder had to rescue one of her own dogs from a shelter after the person who adopted him abandoned him. Six months after adoption, the dog was picked up by animal control tied to a pole. The adopter first claimed he escaped while she was on vacation, then gave multiple conflicting stories. At the same time, she had posted on TikTok about rehoming him because she got a new mini dachshund puppy. When the breeder reached out, the woman eventually admitted she wanted to surrender him due to barking and potential eviction issues — but somehow still got another dog. She never contacted the breeder about any problems. The breeder and her volunteers stepped in and got the dog out of the shelter. When the breeder messaged to let her know he was safe, the woman’s response was basically, “Well, I guess we’re done here.” This one is really sad. People need to understand that pets have feelings too. Should people be required to contact the breeder or rescue if they’re struggling with a dog before surrendering it?

UPDATE: FERDA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!! 🐾🤍 Met Ferda today at the shelter — a 5-year-old German Shepherd who was just surrendered on New Year’s Eve. She was confused, scared, and kept searching for the family she thought she’d lost. Her kennel was full of her toys… but outside, she kept looking at every car, every sound, hoping they’d come back. 💔 Despite everything, she’s gentle, well-trained, and so loving with people and animals. And now… Ferda finally has a new home. 🏡🤍

She was then adopted again, only to be returned the very same day when her new family discovered that she was deaf. The third adoption lasted just two days because they felt she was "too energetic." The fourth lasted nearly a month before she was returned once more when that family also moved. Fortunately, Star was rescued from the shelter by Shelters & Shelves Rescue. She received training, learned simple sign language cues, and eventually found the loving family she had always deserved. One of the most touching moments was her "Freedom Ride" the joyful journey as Star left her foster home and headed toward her forever home. This time, no one would abandon her again. ❤️

She had found her family, her home…all that was left was making it official. Then her foster mom noticed a strange wound on her chest. We thought it was nothing serious.
