Tried Project Genie today. Drove around on some alien planet. Honest take: not as smooth as the marketing videos—some lag, time limits, and my custom prompts wouldn't work so I just used their presets. But the tech itself? Genuinely impressive. The consistency and realism are a clear step up from before. You can feel this is different. It's one of those "the demo is 70% of the promise, but the 70% is already wild" moments. Worth trying if you have access.

the wildest part isn't the world building it's that we're about 5 minutes away from someone generating an entire universe just to run doom in it

We went from "AI can generate text" to "AI can generate entire explorable worlds" in like 2 years. The pace is genuinely hard to process. Imagine what game devs and metaverse builders will do with this in 6 months.

Google Earth's street view mixed with Genie world models will eventually be used for running world simulations billions of instances at a time and we will be able to solve any major world problem by running the simulations on it until we find the one that works the best
