Intentionally omitting a lot of crucial details. Like, the WNBA has been losing millions of dollars for years

I get what you’re saying but the league is young. It took 80 years for the NBA get to the point where Steph can make that kind of money. WNBA needs to become more established.

You’re leaving out the most important part, the WNBA isn’t profitable. The women aren’t making a percentage of the “profits”, they are making a percentage of the revenue. If they generated a profit, then they would get paid more.

Apples to oranges compare the nba when it was the age of the wnba I bet your numbers look a lot different.

Revenue doesn’t mean shit you retard. Its profit. WNBA is not profitable. It operates at a loss and is literally subsidized by the NBA. So actually the women are lucky to be paid anything above minimum wage.

You’re comparing the WNBA to one of the NBA‘s best players. When in reality they should be compared to the best NBA G league player. The math don’t math cause the women’s game is not the NBA.

It sounds unfortunately like the wnba wants the NBA to subsidize their income. The 2 leagues are separate and one league shouldn’t subsidize the other. So I’m fine with the women getting paid better based on WNBA revenue as the nba pay is based on their own revenue.

This is fantasyland... you can't compare the two leagues..

The WNBA made about $200-300 million in 2025 total. One player making $30M would be 15% of the entire league’s revenue and that’s not realistic. Salaries grow with revenue, and the league just isn’t at that financial level yet. Endorsements? Maybe. Salary? Not close. For a player in the WNBA to make $30M in salary, the league would likely need $3–5B in annual revenue. The league is around $200-$300 million today. That’s why $30M deals exist in the NBA the revenue gap is massive.

2025 was a milestone year. The first year the WNBA made the threshold to produce revenue sharing. It’s obvious owners wanna see if it’s sustainable even with the TV dea. Owners are not sold just yet.

Women cry about WBNA players lack of salary, but they can’t tell you 10 players on 5 different WNBA teams, last time they went to a WNBA game, or ask them for their WBNA jersey collections. Meanwhile they can tell you who Lebron and Curry is and can name 15 other NBA players while wearing NBA jerseys to parties.

Ok I’m sure ppl are reading this and saying the WNBA doesn’t make actual revenue they are operating at a deficit, but I seen a report that that has changed. But you didn’t mention what the WNBA revenue was and what these percentages would look like. WNBA revenue - $16M 50% - $8M 1.07% - $86k Why not use the WNBA numbers, it seems that the NBA data is used bc it’s more money and ppl see $55M vs $86k it doesn’t have the same effect. The NBA doesn’t appreciate their players the players took the power with a lock out, the WNBA players have to show their power, rich ppl will never do what’s right by ppl you have to make them

If I paid $100 for lemons, sugar, water, & cups so we could start a lemonade stand.. & we sold $150 of lemonade. We would split the $50 after I got my $100 back. Not split the $150 so that I ended up losing $25. Right? Hence, they need to split the NET revenue, not the GROSS!

How are you even comparing the two… The wnba loses millions of dollars every year compared the NBA making billions of dollars here. How can you educate us when you have the education of a 10 year old.

I love how you leave out the fact that the WNBA has operated at a loss for most of its existence. The NBA has been financially supporting it, which is why player salaries aren’t higher—the business has to recover its costs. it's simple math.

you use the term “income” and “revenue” interchangeably here, and they are very much not the same

It’s a misnomer. We call it basketball related income, but it’s really revenue. It ignores all the costs. True income (revenue minus cost) is high in the NBA and negative in the W. If I started a bball league that did $1m in revenue an cost $3m to run, there’s no $ for players.

Imagine going to work & never selling anything then asking your boss for a raise cause the person who is selling stuff makes more money than you…

First. NBA BRI is insanely higher than WNBA BRI. Besides the WNBA always being in the red the NBA could stand alone and the WNBA would be bankrupt in 3 to 5 years. NBA league expansion with a Vegas and Seattle team would make more than the W. The W also plays way less games.

NBA players play 82 games plus the playoffs vs 44 games plus playoffs The nba has 30 teams vs 14 teams Plus the NBA makes way more money from selling nba gear vs wnba gear. But truth be told if females went to more games and supported yall favorite teams money will go up.

The W isn't bring in the kind of money that the NBA generates. Therefore, revenue sharing can't be the same.

This would make sense IF the WNBA was profitable. Outside of last year, the WNBA has never turned a profit. So that 9% is subsidized by the NBA. Basically, you’re advocating for people that are actually costing the business to get paid more.

Left out the part where the @WNBA has been underwater as a business for consecutive years but I’m not surprised it helps your argument sound valid to casuals

The obvious fallacy is that the NBA shouldn’t be a basis of comparison to begin with. They are operating on an entirely different business model.

The thing is that the WNBA has been operating on a loss and it took about 80 years for steph to make that kind of money. You simply cannot ask for what is not there. If the NBA wasn’t subsidizing for the WNBA there wouldn’t be a league in the first place. Timing isn’t just right.

She couldn’t name 10 WNBA players. Or 10 teams. Or cities. But somehow got all this BRI data… even a casual who doesn’t watch basketball know who Steph Curry is!
