I agree with him that skin color isn’t the most important thing about his babies. Still, many in this country see color. They see it first, & sometimes only. Michael & Brie exude love, but their children need to be prepared for the hate their skin color can elicit. Listen, Stephen A Smith has reached a pinnacle of success in media and now uses his platform to stay neutral on policies and actions that are actively harming the Black community, while still finding time to consistently attack Black people. He sees what is happening in the streets. He knows the stakes. But neutrality keeps the machine comfortable and keeps his handlers satisfied. These are critical times for the Black community. Remaining neutral is not harmless. It functionally sides with the opposition and normalizes the damage being done. Silence is not objectivity. It is a choice. Do better. Be better.

This fine gentleman speaks on the behalf of the black community trying to justify the brutal crime of Karmelo Anthony taking Austin Metcalf’s life. “ I just want to send an apology to his family members on the behalf of the black community, on the behalf of our racism, our ignorance. The fact that we’re justifying the m****r of your son in the name of race, he’s a human being, he was a good kid. He’s a kid that didn’t deserve to have his life snuffed out by some thug.” Thank you sir for sending that message. It’s refreshing to see that there are black people who recognize what happened that day and how completely wrong it was. I don’t know if I’ve seen an athlete’s life make a complete 180 the way I’ve seen Deshaun Watson’s. Cleveland Browns’ fans cheered as he was driven into the locker room on a cart with a season ending Achilles injury. It’s a far cry from the applause he received as a player and man his entire playing career. I will never agree with cheering the injury of an athlete. So, when teammates Myles Garrett & Jameis Winston came to the defense of the player I 100% agree with them. It was the rest of their sentiment that became part of a larger more negative conversation… and I completely understand why.
