The problem with ESPN is that during the first Trump administration, the network leaned heavily into social and political issues, and in my opinion, it blurred the line between sports and activism. ESPN itself acknowledged that the political climate was creating challenges for the network, and its coverage became increasingly intertwined with social-justice issues that may appeal to one segment of the audience, but it can also alienate another…. At the end of the day, ESPN is a business. The focus should be on giving sports fans great sports coverage not constantly making the network part of the political or ideological conversation
