Certain people are anointed. Shawn Carter is one of those people. Because he comes from where he comes from, and became a rapper and celebrity, we tend to view him as simply just that. A celebrity, a rapper, a hustler. But it’s quite clear that he’s different. Just look at his life, that man is blessed beyond his wildest dreams. He was put here for a much bigger purpose. There’s no human being to have ever walked this earth that he should look at with envy. Unfortunately people like him aren’t typically appreciated while they’re still here. As disgusting as it is, I get why he gets so much hate. It’s because there’s no precedent for who he is. He’s the first of its kind. Literally, the blueprint. No Black man is supposed to make it through what he made it through. Achieve so much. Not let fame, money, power, and influence get to his head and end up on drugs or fucked up. People don’t know what to attribute so much winning to. Shit makes no sense. He’s gotta have sold his soul for his success. What else would explain it?

This dad and husband gave his house the best upgrade ever. 💯 He planted his very own flag pole so he could run Old Glory up to the top. 🇺🇸 It comes with a solar light at the top so he doesn’t have to take it down at night. That is a cool, telescoping flag pole. Guess I didn’t know they made flag poles like that. That’s an awesome looking. Leans a tad to the right but he’ll be okay. That’s the flag that came with the kit. He said he’s getting a bigger flag! Heck yeah! 👏 I’ve been wanting to install a flag pole. I’ll have to give this a look. Do you have a flag pole in your yard? Or, do you fly your flag off the little flag pole attachment that attaches to your house or fence? Did you know that the United States flag code states that if your flag doesn’t have a light on it and it isn’t illuminated that you are supposed to take it down every night? Now we know. 👌

It was this exact scene from a priesthood promotional video titled “Fishers of Men” that solidified everything for me. In the video, a young man lies dying after a car accident. A priest rushes to his side to hear his confession and anoint him before he dies. As the priest said, “It’s the priest who brings the soul home to God.” That line hit me like nothing else ever had. I realized in that moment that the priesthood is a kind of doctorhood — one that heals the soul. All my life, I wanted to be a doctor to help people, especially young people, get better. I just never knew that God would fulfill that desire in such a different — and deeper — way. And would you believe it? My very first assignment in the priesthood… Included being the chaplain of a school. Amazing. That’s just how God works. He calls who He wants. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you’ve done, or what you dream of doing — He can still be calling you. The question is: are you listening? #nationalvocationsawarenessweek
