Stephen Colbert’s $15M Farewell: The End of The Late Show As Stephen Colbert heads into his final week on The Late Show (ending May 21), CBS is pulling the plug on the franchise for financial reasons. Despite often leading late night in total viewers (~2.7 million), the show reportedly struggled with high production costs and a challenging ad market — while Colbert earned a reported $15 million per year. After years of strong numbers early on, the demo weakened and the economics no longer worked. Colbert became less about comedy and more about activism — and it was costly. Big salary, big budget… but ultimately not sustainable. Is this the smart business move for CBS? (Video: AI)

It was great to watch Stephen Colbert and his Late Show team win an Emmy last night. I had the privilege of being a guest during the final stretch of the show. He is certainly missed.

Late night TV is collapsing. Stephen Colbert’s show is officially coming to an end, and his fellow late-night hosts stopped by to commiserate… honestly one of the scariest groups of men I’ve ever seen.

FCC Chair Brendan Carr ROASTS Stephen Colbert as His Failing Show Finally Heads to Dustbin of History "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" is officially ending on May 21. Carr nailed it: "It's just not popular with people. And I think it’s great that these broadcasters now are responding to their viewers. And hopefully they'll get something on that's actually either entertaining or funny or actually informative." Good riddance, Colbert. One less TDS leftist propaganda hour on late-night TV.

🚨BREAKING: CBS is pulling the plug on The Late Show - ENDING Stephen Colbert’s run and canceling the entire franchise after nearly 30 years on air. Colbert was smart, fearless, and spoke truth to power when America needed it most. If you’re watching, Stephen - thank you. Before the show ends officially in May, let’s honor Colbert by watching one of his last monologues on Trump and Epstein:
