The editorial page director of the Kansas City Star announced that she "won't be running anything else from Stephen Moore" after she discovered "substantial factual errors" in two of Moore's columns. Jonathan Chait, in a recent New York Magazine piece, calls Moore a "famous idiot" and notes (correctly) that: "Stephen Moore's career as an economic analyst has been a decades-long continuous procession of error and hackery." It's all true! But the most essential thing about Stephen Moore is this: he is a shameless attack dog for the Koch Brothers and the super-rich.

Every week, we've listened to claims that the tariffs would bring back manufacturing and jobs to the United States. Instead, they caused a full-blown labor market meltdown.

BLS numbers are based on a survey…just like jobs numbers. When the survey suffers, as it has post-COVID, analysis suffers. The pro-bono group that was working on improving survey responses was fired by Lutnik in February. Blaming the BLS director for jobs numbers (that were corrected…but low) while you turn attention to income changes by digging up Census income numbers (that won’t be finalized til Sept.) is like a bad magic act. Just another cover-up. Makes it tough to believe anything you say.

We can confirm his numbers sometime in the next 6 months. Moore isn’t stupid. Just plays stupid for Trump.
