He had a lot of interesting positions over the years - including benefitting from, and being close to, then-PM Howard (whose term outlived him); discussing the idea of forestry and clearing for grazing being possible while maintaining habitat; yet describing himself as “more green than anything”. The idea of his son being the youngest Logies host in history? The son he introduced to crocodiles at one month old? The man who openly wept talking about his love for his family with Denton? Nothing about him suggests he would be precious about a quip. More that he’d carry the moment with the same overflowing of love and awe that he wore every day on his khaki sleeves.

As a carer of wildlife conservation, Steve would have seen the impact of climate change on the environment and wildlife habitat. He would be supportive of policies that reduce emission of greenhouse gases such as the Paris Agreement

I wish we could keep Steve Irwin's legacy apolitical. Concerns about native habitat and wildlife conservation notwithstanding
