@0xF2 I'm reminded of that classic Brian Clough line. When asked what he did when a player had a different idea than him about what to do, he said "I give them all the time they need to talk to me about it until they realize that I was right."

This is such a lie. The guy just shouted, humiliated, and then just fired. That was his way of solving conflicts.

That works best when you have hired people who don’t have unresolved ego issues but that are grown up to be truly honest without being driven by fear and unconscious survival mechanisms.

He did. He brought people into the room and every guy who didn’t agree fully with him was kicked out of the room until there was full consensus

It was in 1992. He was 37 years old.

My Dad had two business partners with his first company. He made a rule that if they didn't all agree on something then it wouldn't be done. I thought it would be a recipe for disaster. Turned-out it was one of the smartest business decisions I ever witnessed.

"Buy into this decision" vs. "step into this room, and you can't leave until we agree." 2 sides of the same coin, really.

So don't tell people what to do. Get together and figure out the path forward together.
