Has any midfielder come close to having a season like that in the premier league? Closest is Scholes in 02/03, keane perhaps 99/00 and De Bryune in one of Citys title season. But they played in the best team in the world at that time.

It's one of the best but the only problem is that the masses won't appreciate it as much because his stats won't look as good as a Lampard 04/05 . Wish I can find some sort of player ratings across the whole season to prove my point that was like 8 or 9/10 every week consistently

Genuinely how can you compare Lampard to him,They are both exceptional offensively,you could edge it to either of them but overall gerrard better in everything defensively and in midfield and it’s not particularly close.

I love Salah and Virgil, but this man is our best player in the Premier League era, no doubt in my mind. Arguably our best ever player, but don't want to disrespect the OGs, some of which I've seen some tapes of, but still. Insane player who was unfortunate not to win a PL title.

The best allround midfielder of all time, there is no team that ever existed he wouldn't walk in. He could do it all, especially his defensive work gets overlooked severly.. Captain fantastic!

Gerrard has always been one of my fav non Chelsea players especially after I first saw ‘let us dream’ but he’s somehow even better than I thought.

Best midfielder of all time. Ain’t even close. Who else can you make compilations on of just headers, just passing, just scoring, tackling, touch, etc endless quality. All-rounder. This video also highlights how he was let down so many times, he should have 100+ more assists.

Agree, too often did Gerrard had to be shoehorned as a DM like in Euro 04 & World Cup 06.

So many people ignore the fact that Gerrard was constantly the one being asked to adapt and do the ugly stuff

It was only when McClaren came in initially and dropped Beckham for a year when he was given the attacking freedom, got 5 g/a in that period. When Capello took charge moved him to LM and got 11 g/a in that period but was losing some of his dynamism as he was approaching 30.
