Deep always wanted Homelander to love and appreciate him, he loved him like a brother but Homelander hated his guts and was disgusted by him. I find it ironic because Homelander wanted people in his life who genuinely like/love him and the Deep actually did, this was not an act by him like Firecracker or Stillwell did.
