Damn, booted up Ikemen. It really hit me how much the landscape has changed. There was a time when people poured their hearts into creating completely original characters, stages, mechanics, and ideas like these. They weren’t always trying to perfectly recreate something that already existed. They were just making something they thought was cool and sharing it with the world. I really wish I could’ve experienced that era firsthand. There was something incredibly special about the freedom and creativity of fighting game development back then.

I remember walking into my older brother’s room hearing all the sounds effects coming from Evil Ryu/Ken fighting each other and was mind blown from what I was seeing. Ryu’s dramatic slam super still gives me chills
