still wish epic didn’t completely abandon rocket racing because the foundation for a great racing game is there the movement is so unique compared to other racing games, but they just fumbled it so badly at the beginning and now it’s just rotting in discover

Yeah it's really not bad. It's just...barely any tracks when playing ranked. Feels like I'm playing the same 3 ones over and over the life span is just too short.

Easy revival strat: Let you earn Rocket League Rocket Pass progress from playing this, add Battle Royale rewards exclusive to playing this, and incorporate collabs into it somehow (Like what they did with Metallica)

rocket racing’s movement sucks for the casual player. if you take the time to learn it I’m sure you can do some cool stuff, but for the average player hopping in, it feels like driving one of those remote control cars that your grandma got for you three christmases in a row.

Maybe they are working on something internally (cope)? A lot of people basically considered Lego abandoned but then out of left field it gets one of its biggest expansions to date, hours of content added with relatively no/little marketing lead up.

exactly!!!! i'd love it if they revisited the mode with something that breathes new life into it like ninjago did for LEGO there's a lot of streamlining and polishing that i think needs to be done, but they have one of the most unique arcade racers of today just sitting there

You can unironically replace “Rocket Racing” with “Ballistic” (and racing game with tactical shooter) and it’s the exact same situation.

what they should’ve done (that nobody talks about) is actually have made the mechanics 1:1 with rocket league (ITS NAMESAKE). i love racing and racing games but the controls are so clunky it’s awful.

I agree!!! I didn’t start actually playing it til C5S3 because I wanted to grind for The gold wheels in ranked. It felt mindless until I reached gold and started facing real players, that forced me to learn tech and shortcuts all on my own IT WAS PEAK, winning felt so rewarding-

put so many hours into RR but i'll bet its withering on the vine because car skins never took off in a substantial way.

It still had something going for it with the ranked quests, but they only further buried it with the way they’ve revamped them. I don’t mind that they separate ranked rewards across the different modes, but it’s atrocious to make them based on what rank you are instead of tasks.

The problem is all the bunny hops and cool tricks to get to unreal aren't taught and have to be researched for, and the average player doesn't give a shit about doing that. Even the official videos of it don't do any of the wild tricks.

I agree but I think the grinding that was required to unlock certain things from that mode also helped expedite it's downfall, it became more like a chore. I hope they focus on it for a major update because it's genuinely a great racing game!

They should make it like mario kart tbh, it fots fortnite as a whole better.

I still love it. Im not even that good but it's unique and brings me back when I'm tired of the raging on fn. If they gave it more rewards or its own mini pass or just anything to entice players and/or event tracks like blitz.

It looks good but it'd need a lot more expensive development to be relevant and still wouldn't lead anywhere long term. Arcade racing is a tough gig.

Should've always been a separate game, or maybe tied to rocket league, it just made no sense to put this game into fortnite
