Stockholm's fire stations are fully equipped to clean kit, protecting firefighters from toxic contaminants linked to cancer. The UK is dangerously behind. 2 out of 3 firefighters don't have safe, clean PPE after every incident. We must follow this lead👇

This week we've met firefighter trade unionists from over 14 different countries at the Firefighters Network Conference in Sweden. Thank you to @EPSUnions for hosting us, and to the team at Kungsholmens Fire station for showing us round! We have much to learn from each other💪

Check out this video and it shows how far ahead of the game they are compared to the uk!

We will never be able to clean BA sets properly until all services provide stations with A- spare sets so we can use these when the dirty ones are being cleaned or are drying and B- The proper cleaning facilities to clean the sets, a brush and some soap isn’t enough.

It’s nothing other than a funding issue

It is fixable - entirely fixable and just needs the money to Implement a safe system. But it’s more affordable on the ever important fiscal balance sheet to allow firefighters to get ill and pass away due to their occupation exposure

Are you really suggesting firefighters clean and decontaminate PPE after every incident? London FF bag contaminated clothing when leaving the fireground are issued with clean decontaminated kit on return to the station Clean and maintained by a professional organisation

I brought this up with our Chief in 2016, the silence was deafening. As always Sweden are way ahead of the UK.

Kit on a peg, splash the mask with soapy water. What could possibly go wrong.

We don’t need all that, we just been given a pack of baby wipes and a spray bottle !!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
