This rotating Earth demo on the Commodore 64 just blew my mind. As a kid, I was obsessed with my desktop globe. I’d spin it with my eyes closed, slam my finger down, and then check where I’d landed. I probably learned more geography that way than from any map in school. It’s pretty sad that many schools today don’t really teach world geography anymore. I’ve heard that a lot of kids now can’t even find pretty obvious countries on a globe. Watching this rotating globe on my C64 reminded me of my old blow-up globe. It’s mesmerising — especially with the SID music playing too 🎶 Who else had a blow-up globe as a kid?

This family was sitting by their fire pit when the dad heard some crackling noises. He told his family they should move because of the noise and he was worried. Sure enough as they got far away from it, a gigantic tree came crumbling down right where they would have been sitting. I would be worried about the tree catching on fire since they left the fire burning in the fire pit. I’m glad the father had the wherewithal to move everyone. By the way, did you know the dad told them so? 😂 Have you ever had a huge tree fall on or near your house or other structures or maybe had a close call?

If there were ever a stat to challenge the notion that you have to play on a super team or a team ranked high on My Hockey Rankings to make high level hockey, here it is. Unreal insight from USHL commissioner Glenn Hefferan: Even after taking out kids from Minnesota (which is 25% of the USHL) and players coming in from other junior leagues, players currently playing in the USHL have come from 54 different Tier 1 organizations. 54!!! We always preach that everyone has a different path. For all the parents out there… Calm down, take a breath, keep your kid in your house under your parenting for as long as you can, and surround your kid with good people. You DO NOT need to put your kid on a super team ranked high on MHR for them to “make it.” Here’s an incredible piece of data from top junior league USHL to back it up. I’m hearing horror stories about this stuff as early as 8u and 10u. This shows even at older ages the year before going to junior hockey that you can get there from multiple ways and places. Hockey directors - a great piece of information to send to your parents.

He underestimated the capacity of the young man's supporters spreading outright lies in the BLM social media ecosystem. This is a long clip, but it must be seen to be believed. Morris Dwayne Turner, who protested outside the trial, tells a YouTuber with 100k+ subscribers an insane series of outright lies that would have been DOA if the arguments had been broadcast on video: -A cell phone video of "the whole fight" was shared on Snapchat and Reddit -Austin Metcalf pushed Karmelo so hard that he hit his head on a bleacher -Karmelo "suffered from seizures" so any blow to his head was perceived as a potentially fatal threat -Karmelo got "jumped" by a group of young men -Jeff Metcalf invited all the witnesses to a barbecue and threatened their parents. This was "alleged in court" -"The first person to throw a punch was Hunter. Hunter cold-cocked the boy" -After the first punch, "they all start beating on Karmelo" -Karmelo escaped the group but "Austin grabbed his hoodie and pulled him back. And on the video you can see his gray hoodie stretched out" -Austin put him in a headlock -- "that's why you can see the ligature marks on the bottom of his neck" -An "older white lady" who was inside the courtroom said "it was clear from what she saw that he fell" on the knife -Karmelo was on the ground when Austin was stabbed --"Karmelo, sitting down, could never muster up that type of pressure.
