Stop adding borders to your UI

I think borders might make a comeback in the next few years

Personally I'm not a fan of borderless UI, as an end user. It looks nice. But it's very frustrating for me to use. Knowing where the buttons edge is makes it more intuitive (while using a mouse and fingertips). But that's just my two cents.

all vibecoders are allergic to the left thick border though 😅

but the left-bold-border soooo ai slop 🥲

While I agree on this particular case, there's no reason for always using all the lines to convey a table. Just one line or divider could be a beautiful and simple solution as well ;)

Are these borders or dividers?

I work in sports broadcasting look at every score bug/scoreboard. They all have borders shut the fuck up.

so glad the algorithm put you back in my feed - it’s been a while!

does he make the weird face just to get a reaction or does he think it’s cool

And then you suddenly have 30 rows instead of 2, and then you end up with creating some rainbow-table (let's see who catches this joke first / put it in the reply)

Depends on style and design language. However, the first instance was a very bad use of strokes.

shouldn't totally dismiss borders-Zander Whitehurst can add clarity. maybe it's less about removing Zander Whitehurst and more about using Zander Whitehurst wisely.

Stop spreading absolutes

It looks much better without the borders.

Stopping adding borders by adding an accent border

Accessibility nightmare

I'm not sure this design would pass WCAG standards for accessibility.

Video format reminds of that cool logo guy on tiktok

"stop adding borders" add a border.

Great tip, but try to write "Bosnia and Herzegovina" instead of short word like Spain :)

Love your content

Now you're gonna say that I shouldn't use tbody and tfooter? 😱

borders are like salt, a little goes a long way 😅😅

If you need two lines for a match result you're lost already.

Pls leave the internet

No

this is just the best way to do it

Need to use the lightest visual cue that preserves hierarchy and affordance. Spacing, contrast, and grouping must take precedence.
