I've been seeing these with my own naked eye. They seem to be everywhere these days. Sometimes they are hundreds of feet in the air, other times just on the ground (rarely). They seem to make a patterned high frequency signal to other versions of themselves.

Couple of things I recognise this being a common gull type bird. It's flight pattern, the distinct grey/white colouring observed and yes it's wingspan can be four feet. So I have to go with a bird.
