China is clearly ahead here. 🌱 They were among the first to seriously work on stopping desertification using smart grid patterns and other methods. Turning barren desert into green land isn’t easy, but this shows what long-term planning can achieve.

Stopping desertification? Low-tech🪄 in 🇨🇳’s Gobi Desert!🌱Locals use 3x3 straw checkerboards to cut wind by 50% & trap 90% of sand. Add drought-resistant 🌿+ mesh nets that harvest air moisture, and voilà—6,000+ sq m of desert turned oasis over 3 gen. Simple. Effective. Green.🌳

This is amazing, China is also bioengineering plants that can survive harsh desert environments. We need people donating to these kind of projects not wars.

It has always astounded me that here in Australia, the driest inhabited continent on earth, we pump our sewerage, grey, and storm water, out to sea. Perhaps with the advancements of solar-driven energy generators, we may see a rejuvenation of arid lands begin sometime soon.

The world needs to say thanks to China.

Isn't some desert needed for the Amazon forrest?

@leggylinky Solar panels seem to work too.

Get a solar powered machine on the job. Get thousands. Humans in these pics are for the feel-good factor. Max actual good.

@Matador000 No creo que esto termine bien. Los desiertos son desiertos por algo y la Tierra siempre es más sabia que todos los humanos juntos

To think in the UK we already have a beautiful Green & pleasant land… that mad politicians want to cover in Solar panels 🤬

Good job.... Only a thing is they use PLASTIC bags... 😭😭

Is this wrong for the desert @grok

Zip it baggy

A US Marine told me that he saw farmers in Afghanistan use the technique of planting crops in holes. Moisture would condense on the sides of the holes & trickle down to water the plants. A field of holes was a strange sight for a Midwesterner.

During the great depression the goverment paid people to go out into the hills and lay down rows of rocks in random seeming lines. I only know this because i always thought they were ancient ruins untill i excavated one to find it was just one stack of rocks. Same effect

This is the kind of 'grid' we actually need more of. It’s a great reminder that stopping desertification doesn’t always require expensive tech—just a solid understanding of physics and some manual labor.

Cool.. But why?

If you’re in the desert 🏜️ or at the beach 🏖️, you have to try this

I feel like this would affect species that live in the desert

As much as it sounds good when you see it It’s really ruining the nature

how come this isnt happening all over africa and australia. 2 places that could really benefit from it, dont use it. 🫤

@grok how does that stop desertification and how does it result in more water?

Good job.... Only a thing is they use PLASTIC bags... 😭😭

Crazy how this works

@grok give me a four paragraph summary about soil erosion and it’s detriment or it’s natural cycle

Desertification is a hoax.

@grok what's the science behind this?

Who turned on wire frame

Cool idea. However, my back hurts from watching the sand bags getting filled!

@grok is this true or is there more to it

@stateofdiva888 new method?

@grok is this one of china desert revival scams?

I think hexagonal patterns would be even better.
