In Sunbury PA? Hungry? Like hot dogs? If so you must try the Squeeze-In. Old school hot dog joint is maybe 8 feet wide and serves delicious dogs. I had the Squeeze Dog and the Kraut dog and enjoyed them both. Pro tip: Wash it down with a chocolate milk like the locals do 😉

The dog was on a very long leash, with the woman standing several feet away. He turned around to talk to the dog owner, and they argued. So who is at fault? Should the dog owner have had her dog on a shorter leash? She had to have heard him coming. I believe bikes are supposed to yield to pedestrians legally, but it almost seemed like she was just waiting for him.

To me this is just so special. This woman was sitting on the grassy hill in her neighborhood with her dog. These random kids came and they had a baseball and football and of course the dog wanted to say hi to them. So the woman went over and told them his name is Tommy and he would love to run with them. They said that's okay! He joined them as if he were a little kid as well. 🤗 What a precious dog and what awesome young men for letting him play with them. They made beautiful German Shepherd Tommy’s day! ❤️ Children actually outside playing and being kind and courteous. There is hope still yet. ❤️❤️

When Melissa and Mark Hortman were killed in an act of political violence, the gunman also took the life of their beloved dog Gilbert. Their son Colin shared with me that after an earlier threat was made on his mother’s life she decided to get a dog. Gilbert was a golden retriever who Melissa planned to keep until he finished his service dog training. It turned out that Gilbert was too friendly to be a traditional service dog, but would go on to be of great service to the Hortman family. Melissa and Mark loved Gilbert and Gilbert loved them back. Kenji, the baby Mooseweiler, is learning to be comfortable with a muzzle. He isn't aggressive or likely to bite someone, so why do we do this? Emergency preparedness. If he's ever seriously injured the vet clinic will likely muzzle him as soon as they take him into the back. Even the gentlest of dogs with the best temperaments might become fearful and bite if they are in pain and someone tries to exam their injury. Especially if it's a stranger or they already have negative feelings about vet clinics. Even something as straightforward as a torn nail can be painful enough that a muzzle is used. Putting the muzzle on allows the veterinary team to quickly and safely examine the dog, perform first aid, or start an IV for sedation if needed. If a dog has never worn a muzzle, it can add to the stress and fear they are already experiencing from being restrained and examined while being in pain, especially if they try to resist having it put on. It's much easier on the dog and the veterinary team if the dog is comfortable with wearing a muzzle. If the dog has had a lot of positive conditioning with the muzzle it can actually help calm them as it's something familiar with good emotions attached. Anytime I can help my dogs avoid unnecessary stress, I'll do it. Muzzle training is one way and it helps ensure we're prepared for emergencies. Often when someone sees a dog wearing a muzzle, they assume the dog is aggressive. That's often not the case. It could simply be wearing it during training to get comfortable with it or it might be a dog that eats things off the ground.
