This was at yesterday’s Zimbabwe National Independence Day hosted by the country’s corrupt dictator, Emmerson Mnangagwa. You do not even know where to start, it is a comical yet tragic scene to watch, one you would think was coming out of a 1950s African movie, yet we are in 2025. There is no infrastructure dilapidation, there is no infrastructure to talk of at all. Citizens are treated as if they are badly treated dogs waiting for throw-overs. The incompetent and corrupt officials arrive in shiny, expensive cars, driven on rudimentary roads. The citizens do not know any better because they have been treated this badly for decades, this is their reality. Why do we treat our people like wild animals? Why do we demean ourselves like this in front of the world? You see, for Mnangagwa and his corrupt goons, they do not care because they are not there to serve the people, they are there to loot public funds and plunder the country’s natural resources. It is like expecting the thief who breaks into your home to care, to reflect on why what they are doing is wrong. Mnangagwa is a thief. He is surrounded by thieves. They will never care, until Zimbabweans unite and fight back! Each day that goes without a real united front, the thieves grow stronger, recruiting more corrupt yet incompetent people to bolster their criminal enterprise. How does one even bother to stand there and say he is a president in a country that has collapsed like this? At Lucknow University, while some people are allowed to Namaz in the open without any problem, these students are being shoved and stopped just for saying their Hanuman Chalisa. If the constitution says everyone is equal, then why are the rules changing so fast here? Why is one group getting a free pass while the other is treated like this by the authorities? It is a direct hit on our rights and we need to talk about it openly.
