An interesting note if you look at the grid numbers on the @CTA station signs, they are a bit off in Oak Park and Evanston. They use their own numbers in those towns. EX: Blue Line through Oak Park, the grid is broken up at Austin and Oak Park, then goes back in place at Harlem

@RogersParkMan This is excellent. My Dad’s hysterical sarcastic helpful hint when lost was “Walk east until you hit water, then figure it out.”

@BenBradleyTV @RogersParkMan I know that guy.

@RogersParkMan Love it! My dad taught me this before I could drive. His line was “give me ANY address in Chicago I can tell you how to get there” watching this made me smile; sure do miss him❤️

@RogersParkMan Can always spot Non-south siders doing traffic on the radio. They say "One Fifty Ninth" instead of "Hunnert and Fifty Ninth"... 😉

@ShiaKapos @RogersParkMan Awesome piece. This should be required views for kids in school and new arrivals to Chicago!

@RogersParkMan Did you discuss the angle streets? They always screw up the logical grid.

@RogersParkMan Yes! It was in my full piece, but could only post part to Twitter. Some of the angled streets were in place LONG before the grid as native trails... others were built because businessmen thought 6 corner intersections were better for business.

@RogersParkMan Strong work Sarah & Bill! (The Maxwell Street hat makes me hungry for a Polish. Too bad it’s a Friday in Lent, gotta make due with pepper & egg instead.)

@RogersParkMan Great information,as a life long Chicagoan. The grid is imprinted in my head. #wgn
