What's funny is that it gets often repeated that girls and boys are the same before puberty. That's not true. Even before puberty boys outperform girls just not by that much:

How many women athletes are competing in the men’s division, in pro sports? How many of those women are taking first place?

Absolute differences are generally poor messaging bc only people in the sport have a frame of reference. “Men sprint ~10% faster than women.” <shrug> “Flojo’s juiced up and apparently untouchable world record from 1988 wouldn’t medal at the TX high school state meet.” <gasp>
