🚨 WATER WARS: WHY DESALINATION PLANTS ARE THE GULF’S LIFELINE When missiles fly in the Middle East, people usually think of oil fields, pipelines, or military bases, but in the Gulf, there is another target that may be even more critical, water. The Iranian drone strike on a Bahraini desalination plant, and Iran’s claim that the U.S. targeted a similar facility on Qeshm Island, signals a dangerous new phase in the war. Because in the Gulf, desalination plants are essential for survival. Unlike most regions of the world, the Gulf has almost no natural freshwater. Rainfall is scarce, rivers are nonexistent, and groundwater reserves are limited and rapidly depleting. So Gulf states turned to the sea. Today, massive desalination plants pull salt from seawater and convert it into drinkable water for cities, industries, and agriculture. Without them, daily life across the region would collapse almost overnight. The Gulf Cooperation Council countries control roughly 60% of the world’s desalination capacity and produce about 40% of all desalinated water globally. More than 400 desalination plants operate across the region, quietly supplying the water that keeps cities running. In Kuwait, about 90% of drinking water comes from desalination. In Oman, it’s 86%. Even the United Arab Emirates, with one of the most advanced infrastructure systems on the planet, gets about 42% of its drinking water from the sea. That’s what makes attacks on these facilities so alarming. Unlike oil infrastructure, which affects markets and government revenue, desalination plants affect people immediately. Take out a refinery and the economy suffers. Take out a desalination plant and millions could lose access to drinking water. Energy infrastructure has always been part of regional conflict, but targeting water infrastructure raises the stakes dramatically.

Tunisians are struggling to access water as extreme heat, power cuts, and aging infrastructure disrupt tap supplies and bottling plants. Despite heavy rainfall earlier this year, the crisis has sparked protests and forced authorities to deliver water by tanker.

California water bills are DOUBLE the national average—yet 600,000 are without clean drinking water! ENOUGH. I'll cut costs in HALF and provide abundant water for families, businesses and Central Valley farmers. Here's how: - Invest in water supply infrastructure. - Use modern forecasting technology to capture rainwater. - Resume the projects Sacramento delayed. - Build desalination plants. - Paid for by cutting waste from the bloated state budget. NO NEW TAXES. My CALIFORDABLE plan for abundant, clean, affordable water:

Essential supplies - including clean water - are rapidly running out in Gaza. A UNICEF-supported desalination plant is providing safe water and UN trucks have entered Gaza with bottled water. But the needs are immense. We need unrestricted humanitarian access throughout Gaza.

🚨🇺🇸 🇮🇷 REGIONAL CHAOS: TARGETING INFRASTRUCTURE Col. Daniel Davis warns that strikes on desalination plants and oil depots are dragging the entire region into war. While Israel targets Iranian resources, the retaliatory strikes are crippling Gulf allies and the global economy. Without a clear strategy, we are watching a deliberate escalation into a long, unsustainable war. Daniel Davis Deep Dive

🚨 Trump just bombed Iran’s freshwater desalination plants on Qeshm Island and took credit for it. 30 villages now have no clean water. Not a military base. Not a weapons depot. Not a missile launcher. The water supply. An elementary school. A boys’ school. A civilian airport. Oil depots. And now the freshwater supply for 30 villages. The White House official said the goal is to seize “all the oil.” Hegseth said “the only ones that need to be worried are Iranians that think they’re going to live.” Attacking civilian water infrastructure is a war crime under the Geneva Conventions. Full stop.

Access to clean drinking water should be a right. Yet, for Gaza's Palestinians, it’s anything but. Israel has bombed water infrastructure, and people, including children, are being killed at collection points. For Pinch Point, Al Jazeera's Cyril Vanier looks at the crisis ⤵️

🚨🇮🇱 🇮🇷 ATTACKING IRAN’S WATER COULD BACKFIRE HARD Former British Diplomat Alastair Crooke says hitting Iran’s water infrastructure makes little strategic sense because it invites retaliation against even more vulnerable targets across the Gulf. He says countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia depend far more heavily on desalination, meaning the tactic could ultimately hurt America’s own allies.

🚨🇮🇷🇰🇼 WATER WAR: IRAN COULD TURN KUWAIT INTO A DESERT AGAIN Retired Navy Senior Chief Malcolm Nance (who helped liberate Kuwait City) says Iran’s strikes on desalination plants are an existential threat. Kuwait is 100% dependent on these facilities. Destroy them and the country is pushed back to pre-oil era survival. Oil you can live without for a while. Water? Not so much. This is the kind of warfare that breaks societies, not just armies. Malcolm Nance

This is an areal look into Lake Powell, which now sits at only 23% capacity Because so many of our vital water reservoirs are running low or dry, there is a movement for what’s called ‘The Colorado River Abundance Act” The goal is to develop up to 7 million acre-feet of new reliable water per year. They would do this by large-scale seawater desalination, brackish water desalination, advanced water reuse and recycling and infrastructure modernization The cost for this proposal is about $40 billion which is a ton of money but something needs to be done….
