I’ve watched this play repeatedly and I won’t pretend to know everything. But I always thought on option routes if you read zone, receiver should sit. And this looks (to me) very obviously to be zone coverage and he throws it right to where metchie WOULD be if he kept running.

My opinion on this is CJ rushed the throw, you can see he throws off his back foot vs stepping into it and hitting him in the catch radius. There is also most likely miscommunication between the 2 though.

Maybe CJ needs to worry about working on his game and not doing world tour podcasts

It's always something isnt it... Some plays the line won't block at all. The plays they do block, we will get called for a penalty. And just when everything goes right, we run the wrong route and turn the ball over

It’s hard to know without knowing their keys. Obviously miscommunication, not an errant throw. Stroud said they weren’t on the same page, but didn’t say why they weren’t on the same page. I tend to agree with the theory that Metchie sat down correctly.
