i think what people struggle with backgrounds is not really perspective but rather scale of things relative to each other

yeah scale too, but they also struggle with perspective. i recently gave a workshop and 4 out of 18 people mentioned that they couldn't wrap their minds around perspective. art is just hard!

yes, but you can do this in any software

Awesome tip !!! I use this all the time for indoor concept work, so useful!im curious what you use for setting up the actual perspective grid in PS, I downloaded one plug in called perspective tool but its not working you’re what I’m looking for haha

I use Perspective Tools 2, you can find it on Gumroad. If that’s the same one you’re using and it’s still not working, I can give you a call and we can sort it out together.

But why is it wide angle?

to demonstrate how to use the vanishing lines better. wide angle only refers to the frame. you can crop it and it changes to a lower FOV.
