STUBB: I actually think that we should change our mindset in that it is now Europe and the United States that need Ukraine, sometimes more than Ukraine needs us, because Ukraine is the one that can conduct modern warfare very effectively, as we have seen against Russia.

President Stubb: We in Europe have to get out of the mindset that it's only us helping Ukraine. We have to ask ourselves the question: how can Ukraine help us? That's why I have, from the beginning, been a strong advocate of Ukraine's EU membership and of Ukraine's NATO membership. There's not one military in Europe or the United States, for that matter, that is capable to conduct modern warfare in the way in which Ukraine is doing now. That's why they're actually helping out in the Middle East.

I think really the best solution is Ukrainian membership in NATO and the idea of creating security in Europe by having Ukraine as a kind of buffer zone between Russia and nato countries. It just failed. That is the reality. It failed. So we don't need to have such a buffer. We need Ukraine to be inside NATO.
