Our only point is that we are teachers, and we are discharging our duties as mandated by the institute while following institute procedures. Professor Doolla did the same... He was the Dean of Student Affairs before taking up his current position as Dean of Academic Affairs. So, to expect that a person of his nature—who is known to be very helpful to students—would do this is unreasonable... There are some situations where one has to act firmly, and he acted firmly as per the rules. On Friday, Sahil Wakode (20), a second-year Dalit student in the Energy Science section, was caught using a mobile phone during an examination conducted between 2 pm and 4 pm. Dr Doolla was the invigilator. A few hours later, Wakode died by suicide. Soon after, protests broke out on campus with students blaming the "SYSTEM" that puts too much exam pressure on students. In response IIT Bombay put out an official statement saying no formal disciplinary action had been initiated against Wakode. The institute claims the student was counselled by faculty and assured that the incident would not derail his academic career. NOW, THE SAME PROFESSOR WHO INVIGILATED THAT EXAM HAS BEEN NAMED IN AN FIR INVOKING PROVISIONS OF THE SC/ST ACT. The act was invoked because Wakode's parents accused Dr Doolla of "casteism".

The lawyer told the Supreme Court that she had done a deep research from 1967 till today and could not find a single standing order or regulation of Delhi Police that even mentions the use of pellet guns or even mentions the weapon of pellet gun. Not one. She said pellet guns were first used in Kashmir, later in 2016, there was a 2011 SOP by a task force headed by the Union Home Secretary and a 2016 high powered committee report. But where is the Delhi Police standing order authorising their use against protesters? If such an order exists, put it before the Court. If it does not, then on what legal basis were pellet guns fired at students? This is exactly the question every citizen should be asking. Forget politics for a moment. Imagine your own son or daughter standing in that protest. A weapon that can permanently damage eyesight or any organ should never become the default response to students demanding to be heard. Nobody is saying police should stand helpless. Police have every right to protect themselves. But there is a world of difference between controlling a mostly peaceful crowd of students and using a weapon whose consequences can last a lifetime. The judges have now said they want to lay down a proper protocol. Whether pellet guns should be used at all and if yes, then in what circumstances. MBBS student shared the horrific casteism happening in the college. Even those educated in colleges, schools and government institutions practice casteism in a horrific manner. Under what guise do these casteist people talk about the progress of the country?Is it not injustice to not give representation to the majority of the people of the country? Or is this another imaginary story from Zoran the Moron? If it’s real, we should all be helping her. So who is she? Where is the Police report? Videotape? Something?
