Oregon has one of the shortest school years in the nation. Just over the river in Vancouver, the average K-12 student receives one year more of instructional time than students in our state. A recent poll showed that 80% of Oregonians support requiring local school districts to provide at least the national average of school days. Your kids deserve a world-class education, and on Day One I will work to increase classroom time and give teachers the resources they need so that all Oregon students and teachers can be successful.

Now, the kids are getting $50 a week — $50 This is part of a pilot program to check to see if getting this money, which is loaded onto a debit card, will get them to come to school — could this be a solution for chronic absenteeism”
