Students crave “real.” They love hearing stories about life experiences. I shared some of mine yesterday trying to convince them that “failure” is temporary and comparisons promote fear!!! A small portion. 👊 #RunYourRace

The fear of failure at an early age stops curiosity, prevents pushing limits, and limits growth - across all areas of development. Need a Green Light Living Book!!

I was invited to the United Nations to talk about Iran, especially about athletes and the current situation in Iran. I spoke to more than 4,000 students from around the world. I told them about Iran and about all the limitations that women and girls face there. I talked about the courage of students in Iran and about a regime that kills students. I told them that in my country the new generation is changing everything, but they are paying for it with their lives. While I was speaking, my mind was constantly thinking about Nika, Sarina, Raha, Abolfazl, Kian and the many students who were killed. I was just trying to control myself so I wouldn’t start crying. I also told them how meaningful it is that students from different countries, at such a young age, have the opportunity to come to New York and sit together at the United Nations, meet each other, learn together, and also enjoy many cultural and recreational programs. I told them the stories of Arnika and Rebin & … After the event, the organizers told me it was the first time they had seen students listening so carefully and with so much attention. Some of the students were even crying. I told them that one day, when Iran is free, we will organize an event like this in Iran with students from all over the world, and we will host them there. Some of them told me, “When that day comes, we will bring flowers for the students who were killed and we will honor their memory.”💔 I had the honor of meeting Vladyslav Heraskevych OLY, the Ukrainian Olympic champion, who chose not to remain silent and used his platform as an athlete to be a voice for the people of his country. We had a very meaningful conversation about Ukraine and the role of athletes in difficult times.✌🏻 #Iran

Awesome stuff from Urban Meyer (Urban Meyer) on the difference between Love, Fear, and Hate and how he defined each with his players at Ohio State Football: 😱 Fear can create PERFORMANCE. 💕 Love creates PERMANENCE. Hate is just fear that has found a target. 🎯 Fear is a powerful accelerator. Hate creates urgency. They both can raises standards temporarily. They get people to move when comfort is the default. That's why fear of failure, fear of consequences, and fear of letting teammates down can all produce extraordinary SHORT-TERM results. But fear and hate have an expiration date. Eventually fear becomes anxiety. Eventually hate becomes bitterness. Both ultimately consume the very person they once propelled: -Eventually people burn out. -They become risk averse. -They begin to protect themselves instead of pursuing excellence. Fear can get someone to perform. It rarely gets them to flourish. Fear CANNOT produce greatness. Coach Meyer begins with: "I wanted that person to be great." Greatness is a byproduct of LOVE. 💗 ❤️ Love is the only motivation that compounds. When people know you genuinely care about them and not just what they produce, they'll often demand more from THEMSELVES than you could ever pull from them. Love builds what fear cannot sustain. Fear can change behavior for a moment. 💘 Love changes a person's identity. When people believe they're valued beyond their performance, they'll keep growing long after external pressure disappears. This is the essence of a great culture! To be great, the goal isn't compliance. It's commitment. Anyone can create obedience through consequences. But the quality of the work will reflect that. Great coaches create ownership by connecting people to a purpose bigger than just punishment or avoiding failure. 🔥 Coach people hard. Love them harder. High standards and high care aren't opposites, they're partners. People will accept uncomfortable truth from someone they're convinced is committed to their success. Fear may win today's battle. 📆 🧧 Love is what wins the decades long war.
