The tuition policy should be: 1. Give grants mostly in first year - so kids who do poorly can leave and not feel trapped. 2. Make most money in the form of loans, but increase loan forgiveness on people who graduate and stay in Ontario, and/or have low incomes. 3. Graduates who leave Ontario, or who can get high paying jobs, should not get help, while those who cannot get jobs or only get low paying jobs should get the most help. Use the income tax system to forgive student debt, instead of just giving people grants.

Ontario colleges and universities leveraged up on foreign students. They had to pay higher amounts than regular Canadians and as a consequence, and squeezed many deserving, regular Canadian students out of numerous programs. Try getting into medicine if you’re a Canadian citizen. As a consequence of this greater cash flow, colleges and universities were able to give themselves nice wage increases and a bloated bureaucracy. Colleges and universities misled thousands if not millions of young people over the past 30 years saying that this education would be the golden ticket to a bright future. Instead of increasing a focus on engineering, science, business and practical programs like trades, they pumped up humanities and social sciences. To the point where the 80 to 90% of university graduates were from social sciences. The demand for this type of education in the real world is not that great. As a consequence, these misled young people accumulated a lot of debt that it will take a very long time to get rid of and no hope of working in the field, they studied.
