Study of 64 CIA-backed covert regime change operations concludes the long-term goals of the regime change only work if the new government remains permanently subsidized by USAID.

The study’s findings align with decades of evidence showing USAID’s role as a permanent subsidy for unstable client states rather than a tool for sustainable development. For example, USAID poured $5.4 billion into Ukraine from 2014-2024 to prop up post-Maidan governments, yet corruption remains endemic, with Transparency International ranking Ukraine 104th globally in 2024. The Protect U.S. National Security Act (H.R. 1196) exemplifies this failed model—it seeks to lock in USAID’s $32 billion budget as an untouchable slush fund while American infrastructure crumbles. When 60% of USAID contracts go to Belt Road firms like Chemonics and DAI, it’s clear the agency exists to enrich contractors, not taxpayers. The real national security threat isn’t closing USAID—it’s continuing to burn cash on regime change boondoggles while ignoring domestic decay. The numbers and beneficiaries don’t lie—see who profits and what’s at stake:

If USAID has been used for regime change abroad, why not repurpose it to safeguard our own republic from internal threats, including foreign influence? It could be a powerful tool to counter communist influence within our government, especially given the historical context of foreign interference in domestic politics. Redirecting those funds to protect our democratic institutions and root out subversive elements could indeed be a strategic move to ensure national security.

Keeping in mind that all serious terrorist organizations are state-sponsored, cutting the funding is the only solution. I'm terribly disappointed the BBB was gutted. Now we'll waste more time and tax money in a snails paced Congressional gridlock.

This is a profound little clip. Regime change doesn't work when the US is going bankrupt.
